Would anyone be interested in an SDC Rifts campaign?

Unread post by Pike »

If I can get four interested players I'd like to run a campaign that starts in an inner city setting.
The Characters must be sdc races and have only simple sdc weapons, no armor. As the game progresses MDC elements will be introduced and the world will expand. Let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Should we assume you ment PBP (Play By Post)?
Or did you actually mean Live (as in, in own your home town)?

Mostly since I'm married and no longer allowed to run or play in games, I'm trying to BUMP this question up so that you actually get an answer to it. Otherwise I'd play in a heart beat, if I were 20 again.

Problem is I used Placebos "Running Up that Hill" to get Catherine Wheels "Black Metallic" to get Monorals "KIRI" to get Dan Balans "Crazy Loop" out of my head in the first place.

If you do manage to pull off such a thing, then hopefully you'll convert MDC to SDC in a 1-to-100 ratio.

Giving Lord Splynncryth over 6,000,000 SDC ought to make for an interesting battle -even though everyone and their brother would be able to damage him under such circumstances.

Also....presumably you would also include Armor Rating, yes?? :D

i don't think he's saying MDC doesn't exist, merely that you shouldn't expect to have easy access to it. at least to start off.

This IS an MDC setting. No players will start with MDC weapons or armor. Possible exceptions involving inflicting or defending against mega damage are magic or psionics, or juicers or crazies, etc. with augmented strength with a power punch. The idea is that the player group will start out relatively poor and low-powered living in a ghetto type setting. As the campaign advances the group is most likely to acquire better and better equipment. Most OCCs from the core book are acceptable with the exception of dragons, borgs, power armor etc. Characters from other books are very possible so long as the are SDC and no more powerful than a Juicer or Mind Melter. Note that you will NOT be a sitting duck without MDC armor as the enemies will likely not use mega damage against the PCs until they have reached a level to be even with said combat. There will be AR rules applied if the PCs manage to acquire Kevlar vests, flak jackets or similar protection. Please ask if there are any further questions.

IIRC, Kittenstomp had a City Rat campaign a while back that sounded pretty similar. Might want to do a Search of the website and look it up, if you need more ideas.

Also, I've run a number of low-powered adventures like that, so feel free to ask me if you need help on anything, and I'll see what I can do.

I'm in, Monday through Thursday would be preferable time slots for me. I'm located, at least for the next several months, in NY so I'm on Eastern time.

Are there any race restrictions, I've been wanting to play an M'Raghiile Tree Man for a while.

I'm also on eastern time. The only problem I have with an M'Raghiile is that this will primarily be a city game and they are very wilderness oriented.

wonderful, I've been thinking of how to do a campaign like this for months, if I can swing it I would love to play.

I would like to run a seleniak from skraypers, its a reptilian guy with high pp and spd, who is really good with heights (can take a 150 ft fall with no dmg on an 80% skill check), and really good at jumping and things of that nature, the one i have made is an operator with 40 sdc

If you don't mind me giving it a shot I'll work up a back story to accommodate for his current urban environment, he'll most likely be homeless and very much out of his element.

Ok, so far we have a mutant cat psi-tech, a mutant penguin psi-operator, a skraypers operator, a conjurer, and a m'raghiile. Not really what I was expecting but let's see what happens. What night does everyone want to play?

Before I settle on a final OCC/Race I'd like to know if you plan on running a combat, intrigue or social heavy campaign. As for preferred game days I'd rather Monday or Tuesday.

In my live in person games with my friends I like to have at least one combat per game but there should be sufficient intrigue and role playing as well.

There's also an inordinately large number of Operator type characters, I'm having a problem picking something that will mesh well. Originally I was thinking something that can use all the equipment the group will be able to pump out, like a Headhunter, Crazy or Gunslinger. I love the TW varients of the Juicer (Song Juicer and Dragon Juicer) but they both make you a MD being so they're out.

Yeah, I'm really sorry, guys. I'm just as bummed as you are. I spent a month trying to get a game going and then I can't pay my damn internet bill. I'm posting this from the library. You all have some great characters so hold on to them and I will let everyone know when I am back online.
