A day job?

Unread post by pblackcrow »

What does you're character do for a day job, during down time, or just to keep sane?

My mage, Alex, is a massage therapist, and also leader of a small "metaphysical group" that gathers at his house to discuss things and do group stuff. Also much like myself, he has also made money during the 90s with Herbalife, and he is now with One24...because of the way the economy is going.

My Sensitive, Sean, is an Australian professor of archaeology and anthropology of the Sunshine Coast.

My Physical Psy, Niles, owns an apartment complex which is comprised of mostly people who work for him and a small storage place which he built from selling gold that he found on an adventure. He found a southern gold shipment.

My current character is described a few posts down.

He's a thief so it's more of a night job.

Do NPC's count? I've been GM'ing for so long that I really don't have PC's to offer job info about. I suppose I could share jobs of the PCs in my game as none of my players get on the forum (losers).

My Lazlo character does 'freelance paranormal consulting'. She might describe it as Feng Shui consultation meets urban wicca. She used to do curation at a small gallery and historical work too. She makes enough with her primary work of late to scrape by without the curation for the most part.

Some other characters whose professions I've defined...

TCM doctor. Feng Shui expert and exorcist from NY's Chinatown
Used book salesmen and historian/researcher of esoteric things
Catholic Priest
Busker
Renn Faire craft seller
Come, come, whoever you are,
Wanderer, idolater, worshiper of fire,
Come even though you have broken your vows a thousand times,
Come, and come yet again.

actually, "freelance paranormal consulting" describes Mr.E's BTS role pretty well. book store owner by day, "consulting parapsycologist" whenever needed.

Heh, I'm sure there's a fair amount. I reason there's a surprising number of people willing to pay a reasonable hourly compensation to investigate stuff the NYPD aren't going to believe.

My arcanist Alan Black is a full-time occult detective, co-founder of the Weird Happenings Organization (later merged with Jamison Investigations). Psi-sensitive Fox Kane is a medical doctor who was working at a hospital before splitting his time between that and a charity clinic run by a psi-healer he met during an investigation. Shaolin monk Willie Long was a bounty hunter before hiring on with the Lazlo Agency as a bodyguard/troubleshooter.

I did not think there was a mage listed in BTS 2nd edition.... Am I in error, if not How did you get around this?
"Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon in front of them
Volleyed and thundered;
Stormed at with shot and shell,
Boldly they rode and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of hell
Rode the six hundred."

There isn't. So you have to use either the Arcanist from BtS 1st or, say, the Sorcerer from Nightbane.

Don't have an active BTS game, but over on Lazlo, one of my characters owns his own gun store while the other currently is a student.

Easy! I played the finished one, not 2nd edition.
