True Drunken Style

I was wondering if a character with Drunken Style gets any bonuses or peanlties if they are actually, truely, drunk when they have to fight.

I know that they are not trained for it and generally fake it, but everone takes a beer or two every now and then, sometimes too many.

note this is not supposed to be about IF they get drunk or not, I'm just wondering if they get any panalties or bonuses for truely being drunk.

mmmmmmhhh... I guess not... no special bonus for being drunk. though Drunken style Kung Fu might actually include drunkenness training so the adepts can drink some without seeing their perfomance suffer... it's better to smell of wine if you want to make people believe you're drunk.

If you're interested by the concept of the Drunken Master, the guy who is actually empowered by his drinks... the subject has been dealt with by the nasties of the coast... guess that should be in the complete warrior, or maybe the oriental supplements.

No.

The Palladium Martial Arts Netbook has some martial arts and martial art powers along those lines though:

Body Hardening Exercise: Drunken Master
Chi Mastery: Alcoholic Flame
Chi Mastery: Convert Alcohol to Medicine
Demon Hunter Body Hardening Exercise: Demon Drinking
Demon Hunter Body Hardening Exercise: Drunken Rage
Martial Art: Sui Sariman Ken
Martial Art: Zuiquan

god of N&SS?....

just gona avoid that argument...

but for the drunken master, you don't need the netbook...

Mystic China has the Eternal Clarity BHE...
basically, you could play a drunken master, who does drink, but suffers no penalties,
which is generally the point of the style,
deception being key...
when you drink enough to floor a man twice your size, and feel no ill effect, it's understandable that your opponent might believe your drunken dance...

Eternal Clarity is a Demon Hunter Body Hardening Exercise, and is therefore restricted to the Demon Hunter OCC and to practitioners of Chao Ta, Chi Hsuan Men, Choy-Li-Fut, Fu Chiao Pai, Kuo Ch'uan, Liang Hsiung, and Shao-Lin Kung Fu.

I know it's house ruling, but I guess I would not mind making an exception for that one power in this particular instance

don't remember,
is drunken style in mystic china...

kinda doesn't make sense to deny the drinking-based BH to the drinking based martial art...

Mystic China only reprinted 14 of the 19 Chinese styles from Revised N&S, and among these, Drunken Style alone was not revised to include new maneuvers or martial art powers, for whatever reason.

As presented, Drunken Style is not a "drinking-based" style, as its practitioners only pretend to be drunk, though being able to drink without getting intoxicated certainly would help the illusion.

But for the Legend of Drunken Master sort of action you want Zuiquan, at the link above.

The Style is not designed for people to be truly drunk.
If a Drunken Style character gets drunk, he'll have the same -4 init, -2 strike/parry/dodge, -1/2 speed and -12% on skill percentages.

On the other hand, if you WANT drunken bonuses, make an alcoholic.
Some of the alcoholic modifiers for being drunk are bad, but some are helpful:
"Mean, hostile, strong; +2 damage"
"Paranoid, trusts no one, agitated; +1 initiative"
"Impulsive, takes risks; +2 initiative"
(p. 24)
