I am running a NSS play by post.
Starting a new game, so Im open to input on what the players want. I generally run modern military, Spec-Ops type games on Discord.

As an alternative to letting players build their own characters from the ground up, you might provide pre-generated characters as a way to entice new players and make the game more accessible. They may skip over the tedious process of character development and get right into the action because of this.
