I really hope that this KS Campaign becomes a turning point in the RIFTS RPG popularity! So far the art looks very good: the Glitter Boy rocks...the Red Borg looks a little thin compared with the classic Long.

It could both ways really. A increase in popularity for Rifts yet only the SW version. Or possibly of the PB system. My money is on the first option.
If it's stupid and it works. It's not stupid

Palladium can't be given a free pass for criticism because people have a lot of emotion invested in it.

Pathfinder is good. It is not the second coming of D&D.

it will be both due the method of the design as described by Sean Patrick Fannon.
the SW books will cover the broad strokes but if you want more indepth info on certain areas or classes then you will still need the PB world books and source books.

I guess the cyberknight is to the RIGHT of the red borg, the guy to the left is probably a mind melter or some kind of psychic

I assumed they were both Cyberknights, because their armors look more or less the same (fabric, color, etc.) and both have Psi-Swords. However, it doesn´t make sense to put two characters of the same class in the promo, so perhaps, I am with you about one of them being a Psychic of some kind. By the way, no classic old style SAMAS in the picture is a mistake...it´s iconic!

I am hoping so too. If there are decent conversion rules I can see a lot of people who get interested in this going back and buying a lot of old school rifts stuff because god knows there are decades worth of world information available for people who are interested. Every extra set of eyes on rifts in whatever form it takes has to be good for palladium long run.

I'm really excited for this kickstarter. I've backed a number of kickstarters from Pinnacle (going way back to Deadlands Noir) and I know that they're always a well run campaign - I'm currently waiting for my Rippers Ressurected books from the last one I backed.

Probably something like that! Pinnacle has an amazing track record with KS, especially thanks to their policy of "only announce once everything is basically ready to go."

PEG has a relationship with Reaper Miniatures to produce models for other Savage Worlds games. I doubt the license extends that far, but I'll throw so much money at this if the Kickstarter includes good quality minis.

Yup that would be great but that opens up the question palladium had some minis at one point and I am not sure if there are any outstanding licensing issues there that would cause problems.

I'm more inclined to think that the legalities of producing minis under a license to a third party company would be prohibitively obnoxious. The old figures were produced by Rafm and some are still available through Palladium's online store and other internet outlets. I don't think they've been produced in more than a decade though. KS dropped a hint in a weekly update back in 2012 that they were in talks to get some figures recast, but I don't think anything came of it.

It'd be nice to see a plot point campaign and/or a fleshed out adventure as an extra.

Also, some of the announced stretch goals for their most recent KS campaign, Weird Wars 1, were infantry, sailor and airmen archetypes for soldiers of different nations. Those haven't come out yet, but they should be pretty soon.

So, we could have some archetypes - NPCs for the Coalition, Tolkeen, Federation of Magic, Pecos Empire, Archie, Atlantis, NGR, whatever.

They also released some short fiction pieces for ePub and Kindle for WW1. That's kind of cool.

Oh, and they also did some battle mats. I'm still not sold on using minis for Rifts...even Savage Rifts.

I figured as much. How is the relationship between PB and Ninja Division? If that bridge hasn't been burned, a side deal might get made...

From left to right: crazy, ley line walker, glitter boy, burster, mind melter, 'borg, cyber-knight, and juicer. That seems to be the consensus right now due to the names of the pictures as the banner updated over the last couple of weeks.

Interesting it sounds like from their forums that the makers of this expect if the kickstarter goes as they expect it to have at least the .pdf files for the kick start backers by sometime in june. Thats a pretty good indication that the books are pretty close to complete or near completion already which makes for a pretty easy/safe kickstarter.

Yeah. As someone who's worked with Pinnacle in the past and supported a fair number of their Kickstarters as a fan, they're pretty loathe to promise anything that there's any possible chance they can't deliver on. Generally, they don't even announce the Kickstarter unless work is 90% done. It's pretty likely that the June release is just a delay to add in stretch goal content and the like, and that we'll probably be seeing additional content trickle out for several months afterward.

Not to surprising looks like a lot of folks are going for the player or gm print levels which are pretty big chunks so did not take to many backers to hit those levels. This looks to be a very healthy kick starter for them and the art work shown on the page is really really good. I love good rifts art and this looks like its going to have a very high amount of that. I want to see what the map looks like will probably wind up putting some extra for the print poster map I love me some good maps.

I went with the gm print package but have not decided yet if I want to upgrade to hard cover. My shelves are getting really packed so may stick with the soft cover. The savage worlds books I have in soft cover are well made so the quality should not be an issue.

Whew. 80 grand in two hours is pretty great. This could well be on track for a million bucks (he said hopefully). They're into me for $115 right now, to get the GM books collection plus that lovely poster map. If I can scrounge up 15 more bucks somewhere, I'll be upgrading those bad boys to hardcover. =)

And I love words in a book, but I'm really excited to see all this color art for Rifts! Thank you Kevin and Sean for making this possible! You folks at Palladium, Evil Beagle Games, and Pinnacle have created beautiful thing. :-D Maybe, just maybe some one in Hollywood will get excited too!
