I know it's not everyones thing, but I tend to play some low background music during my games and my players tend to love it. I'm gearing up to start my mexico/south west U.S. Rifts game and am making a playlist filled with Hugo Montenegro, Marty Robbins, Outlaws, maybe the young guns soundtrack and some rock/metal covers of Robbins if I can find them somewhere.
However, I'm curious...for those that do like to add music to your games, what are you usually playing for Rifts?

Anything and everything that fits the adventure - whatever works. I've used Rock, Classical, Folk, Jazz, Metal, Country - you name it.
Last Rifts session included some Neil Young, Rebirth Brass Band, and a little Josh Ritter to balance out the first two.

Re: Mood Music for Rifts
think there's a thread on this already somewhere, i'm sure you'd get some ideas from that.
but ultimately, this question is a bit of a hard one to answer. i might associate one theme with rifts, while you may associate another, and a third person might associate rifts with yet another theme.
to complicate matters even further, there are different themes depending on where in the world you're playing, what groups you are working with, what your goals are, what race/class your character is, and so forth.
ultimately, i could see almost *any* song contributing to proper theme for rifts... if played in the right situation at the right time.

back in 2003 this German band E Nomine produced some music which I thought would go pretty well with the CS or the NGR

I pretty much only play greatest hits from country/western music. Sometimes some orchestral or hard rock
