I tried to make it a little more gritty I love the Deathlands books by Axler and so moving it deeper into the dark ages does it for me. In Deathlands you are lucky to get a gun with some bullets. Was Chaos Earth as gritty as you wanted or expected? what do you do to bring out the survival aspect?

it wasn't for me. They did not have many options for non militrary personel.

i also like the idea of moving the start point about ten years as it is likely to be a good time zone for things to be running out, hidden caches run dry, etc. things are beat the heck out of so more worn out and battle damaged.

but it is the start of the end. so its bound to have some dying gasp.

This year, supposedly, according to various murmurs and updates. The more groundswell there is in support of it, the more likely that date will be met. :ok:

In answer to the earlier question about timetable, Kevin mentioned in today's update that they want First Responders done by December. Remember to let Palladium know that you're pumped for Chaos Earth. :ok:

My Chaos Earth game was insanely gritty. I started a mini-campaign in the days before and played through the first weeks of the insanity before the TPK. In one shots, the whole session is a grit fest nightmare.

I am a big fan of playing up the weather / atmosphere / secondary effects of the Apocalypse. Also, magical effects are happening...not always dangerous ones, but confusing stuff like neon rainbows in the dark, the appearance of prehistoric creatures (not dangerous ones, but giant snails, alien plants, etc) and of course, journeys through ruined skyscrapers built by the lowest bidder.

Nice.

This is how i visualized the rifts world in the begin of playing it. random things constantly happening.
