My own Rifts GM Screen

Unread post by mobuttu »

I'm doing my own Rifts GM Screen using a Customizable GM Screen. What tables/data/whatever would you put on it?

So for I have:

- Skill penalties
- Saving rolls
- Psi recovering rate
- Called shoot penalties
- Shooting combat modifiers
- XP table

What else?

Really, it depends on what setting you are using man. You'll have to custom tailor it to your campaign, otherwise, there's too much crap to squish all on one thing. I'd add the perception roll table at least in addition to what you have. I would not add a ley line storm table... Not unless leylines/leyline travel is being explictly used in your campaign. I would however include page #'s and books for other reference stuff that is too much to add to a table. Like missile charts, crash landing charts, robotic and supernatural strength tables, etc.

What program are you using to make it?

Other things that I would add are:
-random encounter tables
-random equipment lists
-Quick NPC creation stuff (for a quick combat when things start to slow down and stuff like that)
-armor repair rates
-salvage rates

That is all that I can think of for the moment.

Perception rolls, blood loss tables, random damage tables

If I think of more I'll post them.

Thanks very much for yours answers.

Perception rolls go in. Thanks!

I'm seriously thinking in a quick NPC generator chart (but I don't know if it will fit in).

I'm mostly looking for cannon information charts in the books. I'm not interested in random generation charts (maybe the salvage one in that Siege on Tolkeen book. Any other reference?).

I'm using MSword from for the tables and then I'm paste them on a MS Access to edit them.

Any other info I should consider to go to the GM Screen? Thank you very much.

In my home made GM's screen I have the following.

Leap Rules from Pg.56 of the HU2 G.M's Guide.

Knockdown Rules from pg. 35 of the Original Rifts Main Book.

A Full page of Magic Spells with NO Saving Throws from all over the B.o.M.

The Selling to the black market page from Original Main Book Pg. 208 for the price of various stuff. Clipped in behind that is a P.A. Gregorian calendar conversion from the Original Triax book up to P.A. 115.

The Covers I have on mine are the Original Rifts Main Book
The Book of Magic
The Rifts Adventure Guide and the
Merc Ops Cover with the Juicer beating the Crazy.

crazy random thought, has anyone ever considered making "player screens" that just have all the stuff the player is likely to need to know at a glance? :P

I wouldn't make it as a screen but rather a cheat sheet of sorts, or just add it to each of the player's character sheets. The whole reason i would not make it as a screen is so that they can't roll their dice behind it and fudge the numbers.

What information would you include on a player cheat sheet?

This is what I would make sure to have:
-Ranged weapon bonuses and penalties
-Missile combat rules
Under the Pain of Death
I would Stand Alone
Against an Army of Darkness
And Horrors Unknown

Could we get some Pg. numbers for convenient tracking down?

I'm trying to get one all put together as well.

I have the.:
- Attribute Bonus Chart
- Speed Conversion chart
- Saving Throw chart
- Random Ley Lines (R.U.E. Pg. 191)
- Common Features of all robot vehicles
- Missile Stats & Prices
- Perception Table
- Quick Reference for Ranged Combat Penalties & Bonuses

I'm looking for armor repair rates and costs, salvage rate tables, random encounter tables, and anything else people would recommend.

I then have a separate folder that specifically has useful information. It includes the sections like "Battle Injuries & Recovery", "Beating the Odds", and has average stats for CS Grunts and other NPC's.

We should pull together and decide what information belongs on the three spaces available and what should be in a side folder that has useful sections. I think everyone would benefit from that.

Ok, I necro this to request for your help.

So far I have the following sections in my home-made Rifts GM screen (taking some suggestion in this thread):

- Saving throws chart.
- Ranged Combat penalties.
- Called shot penalties.
- Knock-back, falling and crashing rules and damage.
- ISP and PPE recovery by OCC and Ley Line, Nexus ISP/PEE boost .
- Random Ley line table.
- MDC repairing costs.
- Common body armor and power armor features.
- Healing rules and MDC recovery.
- Perception table.
- Missile chart.
- Experience chart.

Other possible additions could be (which ones do you find more useful in play?):

- PPE penalties from wearing armors.
- Teleport and Rifting penalties due to dimension substance.
- Black market prices.
- Knock-back optional tables due to damage.
- Lifting /carrying weight chart.
- Speed conversion chart.

I'm pretty sure I don't want in it random tables and the attribute table (I don't use to use it in play), unless you convince me an the contrary.

What do you think it lacks, would you change something, do you miss any useful chart or table?

Thank you very much.

PD. Of course, once finished, I'll share it with you! ;D

Another question:

What would you prefer to see in a Rifts GM Screen: A list of common item costs (weapons, services, etc.) or Salavge/Black market prices?

Thanks for your answers, they are highly apppreciated.
