Don't pay attention to what "version" any of the add-on books was written for. With minor tweaking, all of the add-ons can be used with the core rule book. In fact, you don't need to tweak them if you don't want to. Just remember the first rule of gaming in the Palladium Megaverse - if you like it, use. If you don't, then tweak it til you do.

dirtyg wrote:Just a quick question, I've heard that villains unlimited and a few other add ons for this game are not written for the second edition but written for the revised edition. Is this true? If so are we stuck with just the core rule book? Is this actually a bad thing though? Lovely jubbly. :?

The books below were all written for 2nd Edition.

Heroes Unlimited™ G.M's Guide
Century Station™ for HU 2nd Ed.
Gramercy Island™ for Heroes Unlimited™ 2nd Edition
Aliens Unlimited™ Galaxy Guide™
Mutant Underground™
Powers Unlimited™ One
Powers Unlimited™ Two
Powers Unlimited™ Three

And of course practically anything from any other Palladium game can be used with Heroes Unlimited with very little effort.

It's fun to mash stuff up!

As a note, for those used to D&D "Editions" Or White wolf "Editions"

The 2nd and "Revised" Edition of Palladium books have very very very MINOR changes... It's usually just some art work and more powers that are the difference. It's not a new rules system. Alter physical structure metal in 2nd works just like APS in revised.

There's a bit of power creep but they all work. they all interchange. It's not like trying to use D&D 2nd with D&D 4th, or White wolf 2nd with the New World of Darkness.

Chello!

dirtyg, not really. a better bet would the 3 powers unlimited books.

An even better idea would be to wait until late October or early November when Kevin does his Christamas grab bags and request a lot of the HU stuff in one. Shipping to UK is still high, BUT you'll get a lot of stuff for a good price. Still worth your while.

You usually do not get new powers as you level. But there's always ways. Contact with a mystical artifact. Super science. Secondary mutations. interaction with gods. ect ect ect. I mean a few years back the Xmen suddenly started getting new powers. Emma Frost just seemed to spontaneously go from super psychic to super psychic with APS Diamond.

I may indeed get the powers books. I think it's a bit late to introduce new powers later on when the players have already made up their characters. Hard to add new ones, unless this game adds new powers with each level up they get?

Yeah, for the most part you keep the same power set for the whole game. There are some exceptions, like you can roll a result under mutant that lets you add a new power every few levels.

And there are several hero types that don't gave you any powers at all, focusing on training or equipment.

Anyway, the extra powers are in PU1 and PU3.
PU2 gives you new power categories.
