my point is that ANYTHING of value in New york was ignored since the whole theme of the book is Land of the Dead inspired. Which is ok. BUt ITS NOT NEW YORK

Anyone who's had a book about where they live wanna rant about how it isn't that place along with Gomen? Maybe he'll get over this "we're being singled out" phase and realize Palladium's played fast and loose with the entire world from day one.

I was pretty much okay with how they handled Texas in Rifts: Lone Star, actually. :)
Yeah Rifts Australia was more based on Mad Max with magic than the real Australia, and of course they had to put in giant meat eating kangaroos that you could ride.

It's FANTASY SCI FI for heaven's sake.

I vote don't worry about whether they're new yorkers or not.

Australian's dont count!!!!!!! :D

I guess you have to be from NYC to understand what Gomen is saying. I dont agree in this case, but we do catch some hell in other places.

I know what your saying to some degree.
However IMO it's got nothing to do from where your from. I've been to NY, my sister has lived in Brooklyn for the last ten years and my brother in law has lived there his whole life. I'm not a complete NY n00b.
I think that sometimes it takes an outsider to see what the natives would take for granted. Either way we're talking about a fictional place in a fictional time which is so far removed from reality I struggle to see how it would effect the quality of the book.

Shadrak, I take it you got one of the copies from Origins? I'm glad that you like it. That really makes my day.

I like the way Madhaven has been written, and how I can bring even more dangerous enemies into the world due to how insane Madhaven is.

I am thinking about bringing a major enemy into my Rifts world to Madhaven. He will gather mutant minions and Pre-Rifts tech....

Sure.

DUDE, Juicer Uprising is not at all how Arkansas is. They totaly messed up El Dorado, and didn't even mention half the stuff they could have. I mean its fine that its about Juicers and all BUT ITS NOT ARKANSAS! There, how was that? I mean THERE IS NO FORT EL DORADO! And why would they name a Fort after a cheesy Superfriend anyways? Obviously the author has never been to Arkansas...what? You mean there is actually a city called El Dorado, Ark?

Nevermind.

The point being, there isn't a world book or city book that probably hasn't cheesed off at least some of the native population.

You think I was happy with Atlanta? Hell no -- but that didn't launch me on a hate-o-rade campaign against the writer because he didn't tap into all the available sources in Atlanta. Hell, it's the South -- we've got more ghost stories and legends than Europe. None of it made it into the book however. But that's the price we pay for not writing the books before a non-native did. Suck it up, or write faster next time. :D

Gomen,

You still haven't addressed how you came to the conclusion that Mad Haven is land of the Dead inspired.

Heck, you haven't even rationalized any of your conclusions.

Well sitting here reading my pre-printers proof (only me an Gomen got one), I see that they outline many dagerous areas in New York. So now everyone can know where the ghettos are. Hurray!

Then 80% of New Yorkers aren't real New Yorkers.

People throw the words Ghetto and Slum around too loosely.

I agree! I've been a tourist in New York City once. (It was quite a time.) I'd love to go an explore the rest of the state!
"Your Grace," she said, "I have only one question. Do you wish this man crippled or dead?"

"My Lady," the protector of Grayson told his Champion, "I do not wish him to leave this chamber alive."

It was an interesting city when I was there last time. I did end up going into the outlying areas. Althoughnot as many as I had time for. Maybe next time I'll see more of the outlying region.
