Object Reading Dark Blades/Spears

Unread post by GaredBattlespike »

What is a Psychic P.C.C. likely to find out from doing this? Overwhelming EVIL and little else? Are the Hounds/Hunters individual enough to leave a "personal" imprint upon the weapon besides the EVIL? :?

Thanks,

They're not, but a great many of them are manufactured using slave labor (Nightlands, p. 76), and the Nightlords aren't the nicest taskmasters.

No... the blade might be possesed by an angry spirit... not possess the psychic doing the read.

Using object read opens the PSI to possession, and if there is 'something' there it would not be friendly.

The king of all migranes.
His/Her mind rebelling to the point of being unable to "open" for a couple of days.
Instant unconciousness, and no memory of what the y saw.

I have an interesting method of adjudicating "Detect Magic" and "Detect Evil" in my AD&D game. A player detects magic on a +1 dagger sees a faint alteration aura around the weapon. The same player detects magic on a major artifact, and is immediately forced to squint to avoid temporary blindness from all the magic on the artifact. The same player (foolishly) Detects magic while surrounded by high-level magics in a magic realm, and is blinded for several days due to the sensory overload.
For Detect Evil, it ranges from the shiver down the back ("someone walking on my grave") level, to instant unconciousness from the sheer magnitude of the headache created by the pure evilness... :D My players have quickly learned to be very careful when using these spells...infact, some of the other DMs in our group liked it so much that they have adapted it too! :D

It might be a phyological blindness caused by the mental block that makes it so the mage/PSI can't cast/use sense magic.

Actually, the stronger the magic, the brighter the aura.

If the aura is bright enough, your optic nerve is (temporarily) overwhelmed. :D

Couldn't tell you. Don't play E3+

I play 2nd Ed. The only thing I've recently done about 3rd is to convert the Sorcerer to 2nd Ed. :D

How you do things in non-Palladium games is irrelevant to this topic.
