Your sword fu is not strong
Hey all. My group has been playing Heroes Unlimited for quite some time, but there has always been disagreement between us on how weapon skills work with HTH skills. Some of us think the weapon bonuses are added to our regular bonuses, some do not. We've always just gone with the belief of whoever is running the current campaign, but we might soon have a shared campaign setting, so we want to have a common consensus. Therefore, without influencing the answers with which way I believe it works, I ask for the vast wisdom of the forumites to settle this. Thank you in advance.

All bonuses (and negative modifers) are cumulative.
For melee bonuses:
P.P. bomnus + eventual bonus from Hand to Hand + bonus from WP
For Ranged bonuses
WP bonus + eventual bonus from weapon + targetting

Yes — WP bonuses stack with HTH bonuses. HTH gives general combat skills, WP adds specific weapon bonuses. Stacking is the common and intended way to play.

Golden rule, do whatever works for your table.
Heroes Unlimited Ancient Weapon Proficiencies stack with HTH bonuses (see pg 61 of HU2E, second paragraph)
Heroes Unlimited Modern Weapon Proficiencies do not stack with HTH bonuses (see pg 75, second paragraph).

Hey! This is a great question and one that often causes debate. Generally, weapon skill bonuses and hand-to-hand (HTH) skill bonuses are treated separately, but how they combine can depend on the specific edition or house rules you’re using. For a shared campaign, I’d recommend agreeing on a clear ruling beforehand—whether to add the bonuses together or keep them separate—to keep things consistent and fair for everyone. Hopefully, some experienced players here can share how they handle it!Mirth Morbid wrote: Mon Jun 16, 2025 5:01 pm Hey all.
