New Materials of the Splicersverse.
Good morning splicers, Today I've finally had a chance to return to the forums with a new series of materials for you to utilize for your campaigns. My players have desired for a while some new materials to aid in providing a mew lived in environment and a new means of profit for their greebly little fingers. As such I must warn you that I've recently moved to another RPGs systems and haven't got the time to fully stat every material... As such you may desire to make some for these materials. However, their base description should provide a solid idea as to their use and general capabilities and shouldn't cause any difficulties with your homebrews. May the splicerverse enjoy my contributions and I wish you all a happy hunting!
Project Material Productions:
Lyvania Wood: Produces a particularly fibrous core that when pulled becomes an excellent tinder, one that lasts for several weeks before needing to be harvested again, and each tree produces roughly 35lbs of this fire-starting fiber. Additionally, its wood is porous and flexible, able to collect water in extremely dry conditions within a few days, enough to sustain the tree and up to 10 people each. This material is S.D.C. and is produced from a sequence of altered genetic flora from the Splicer’s Universe. Its tree length stops at 8ft tall, 3ft wide, and has a lifespan of 4 years, growing to maturity in just 3 months. They are easily identified by their large leaves similar to banana trees, with a single blue streak that runs down each stem.
S.D.C.: 25 per square inch
Bio-E cost to generate: 15 for a seed production organ, with 5 seeds produced per day.
Groil Toil Sap: Produced from the Groil Toil Tree, this sap is a diverse micro-flora of a series of plant seeds that collect within the trees sap and slowly leaks into the ground, allowing new plants to root. Each Tree can survive in even heavily irradiated conditions, allowing the slow but constant reclamation of the world’s terrain, and allows splicers in the field to make do with wild crops that grow from the newly conditioned soils in each region they dwell. Biologically engineered in the splicer’s universe, these plants are a cornucopia of seed beds that continue to generate for 15 years before expiring and each plant produced it tailored to survive in its local environment, each being an S.D.C. plant. Some call these trees a world tree due to its abnormal size, growing aptly to 45ft tall, 25ft wide, with a deep root system that cultivates the soil around it into an arable substrate for its seed loaded sap. Besides their sheer size being an indication of what this tree is, they also are barren of any leaves and have many alcoves that leak sap regularly.
S.D.C.: 350 per square inch
Bio-E cost to generate: 125 for a seed production organ, with 2 seeds produced per month.
Thick Stip Wood: An M.D.C. wood produced from its aptly named tree, its naturally porous material and light weight make it an incredible resource for any household relying on carts, wagons, and other means of transportation and logistics. The Thick Stip Tree is a large tree roughly 15ft tall with a 12ft diameter, its porous nature allows it to absorb water even in dry desert regions, allowing it to maintain itself with minimal requirements. Additionally, the tree is disease resistant and grows fruit yearly that makes itself compatible with any digestive system, having a sweet, tangy flavor similar to mango, with a collection of solid pods that grow next to these fruit. The Tree can grow for 30 years, maturing to its normal height in 5 years, each year after growing 3ft taller and wider. Distinguishing a Thick Stip Tree is easily done as they appear to be Covered in thick scalelike structures with a single wooden barb of soft fibrous material that dangles down in a curved S pattern.
M.D.C.: 35 per square inch.
Bio-E cost to generate: 25 for a seed production organ, with 8 seeds produced per week.
Rogi Stems: Rogi Stems are a widely collected resource out in the field, as they grow with minimal water requirements and tend to be found growing even in concrete, and able to grow up to 10ft tall. Their stems are roughly 6 inches thick, and their core contains a nutrient rich sap that is sweet like honeydew. Rogi Stems can be invasive as they grow within a period of 3 weeks, after which they begin seeding in 2 weeks, and can continue to live for up to 5 years. However, due to the nature of its edibility, they are often grown in ruins and other dangerous regions to maintain a steady source of food for away teams out in the field. Rogi Stems are easy to spot as they have large leaves that dangle odd neon green berries that glow during the nighttime.
S.D.C.: 15 per stem
Bio-E cost to generate: 5 for a seed production organ, with 20 seeds produced per day.
Thois Poise: Thois Poise is a harsh crop of grain that steadily outgrows local vegetation over the expanse of 3 years. During this time, a Thois Poise will mature in 1-3 weeks, and continue to grow larger with extending stems of thick pods full of grain seed. The grain can be ground into a poultice paste for slow recovery of wounds and are anti-bacterial in nature. They can also be boiled into a hearty gruel that tastes like sandal wood. Regularly seen growing in areas by coastal regions, lakes, rivers, and even some small oasis out in the desert regions, they can be maintained with small water requirements. These Grains are easy to spot as during their mature stage, they appear as purple grass with huge, branched stems with large dangling pods roughly 1-4 ounces in weight.
S.D.C.: 8 per crop
Bio-E cost to generate: 8 for a seed production organ, with 10 seeds produced per day.
Liggsi Bush: The Liggsi Bush is an odd plant that produces dark red leaves, and long berries that are similar in structure to pods. These berries contain a cocktail of various regenerative liquids that allow for quicker regeneration in the field, nearly doubling it when worked into poultices and medical bandaging. Following their odd appearance, the leaves are actually great bleed stoppers, as they force rapid coagulation due to the oils that leak from their leaves. Found mostly in barren soils sparsely throughout regions splicers have been camping out. Its not known if these berries are a blessing from some failed experiment from Gaia or were made by the resistance but their utility is none the less desired.
S.D.C.: 25 per bush
Regenerates 25 S.D.C./M.D.C. per day when applied to wounds, or doubles healing rate of recovery, which ever is faster. Bleeding stops in 2 melee rounds.
Bio-E cost to generate: 45 for a seed production organ, with 6 seeds produced per week.
Troise leaf Wicker: Troise Leaf is a common stem plant found in regions with lots of decay or dead remains, they have an odd spider like leaf that leads to a well proven and very difficult to cut stem. These Stems are M.D.C. material and produce fibers that can hold even under extreme temperature fluctuations and are commonly added to pottery as a means of reducing the chance of shattering during baking or regular use. Additionally, these stems are grown year-round at roughly 2ft per week and won’t damage the plant when cut or removed as they have a small ball at the base of each stem that easily detaches when given a light amount of force.
M.D.C.: 45 per stem
Bio-E cost to generate: 25 for a seed production organ, with 20 seeds produced per week.
Lisa Klop: Lisa Klop is a collection of three separate but symbiotic plants that grow together and only together, they each appear to be similar to green grass, with a distinct scent of lemon, pressed grapes, and Garlic, and possess a Large bulb each, the largest being blue with large leaves that act as cover for the other two plants and produces large gourds that while inedible produce long lasting containers with ease. The Second Bulb is smaller with yellow and dark green stripes, they grow long vines that creep across the ground and grow long bean pods with an umami flavor, the pods when mature appear dark brown in coloration. The last is the smallest bulb, being white in color, and grows long stems upwards with colorful yellow, pink, and violet petals in a flower arrangement. These flowers are often gifted to those seeking courtship or marriage within certain cultures and produce an aphrodisiac when dried and brewed into teas. These plants take up to a month to mature and grow commonly anywhere rocky soil can be found.
S.D.C.: 35 per three sister crop.
Aphrodisiac improves s*x drive and performance by 50% when a single cup of tea was consumed an hour prior. Lasts 3 hours after consumption.
Bio-E cost to generate: 65 for a seed production organ, with 3 seeds produced per month.
Notes: Heavily regulated in havens due to illegal usage on unwilling peers.
Vise Wise Vine: Vise Wise is a vertically growing red-grey vine that droops down over cliffs and edges alike, commonly grown communally to function as a grown door for privacy, while maintaining a natural look, these vines can grow indefinitely with minimal water needed and often extract needed moisture in cracks deep within the rock they grow out of. Variations of this vine tend to produce spiral patterns, odd vertical shafts of one color, or even a splotched pattern between each vine, and grow as thick as 5 inches. Additionally, these vines produce a thick meat-like substance within their vines that provides nourishment for carnivores and herbivores alike. Takes 2 weeks to mature, and no known rot time has so far been recorded.
S.D.C.: 45 per vine.
Bio-E cost to generate: 25 for a seed production organ, with 8 seeds produced per week.
New Materials for Havens:
Shocksa Wall Carapace: An odd structure of black carapace that grows on the walls of havens with heavy biomodification being common, these wall crops produce a heavy M.D.C. material that’s heat resistant, temperature stable even under extreme duress, and remain durable after multiple assaults. These wall crops are gently harvested by slipping a plate upwards from its mount, grow within 2-3 weeks, and are anywhere from 3-8in wide, 5-12in long, and 1-3in thick, to 4-6ft wide, 5-7ft long, and 2-4ft thick respectively. Its common for those wielding non-biological armors to fuse or adorn these plates of carapace for repairs and added protection from the elements.
M.D.C.: 35 per inch, is immune to heat damage at 2in thickness, and maintains 70*f temperature regardless of environment.
Bio-E cost to generate: 65 per outcrop, or 135 for a large outcrop.
Janis Chew Chips: A large collection of calcium rich fodder that can be fed in mixed feeds for most war mounts, these pieces of rock like plant pieces are commonly black, grey, yellow, red, or orange and some cultivate other colors to adorn their house’s colors. Each plant of Janis grows like a thick vine plant either on ceilings or walls and produce thick sheets of shiny coated plates about .5-2in thick and vary in sizes depending on the houses needs. Once matured within 4-6 weeks, the plates will go from a forest green color towards their common color variant and will begin to break their plates apart by gentle rustling, leaving piles of “Chew Chips” for the houses various needs. Each piece can either be ground down into various dyes of their respective color, or they can be treated in fire to harden them into a shiny piece of scale that functions like metallic laminar. These Treated pieces are M.D.C. material and can and often are adorned on prized war mounts, host armors, and various other displays of status or decoration for members of each haven.
S.D.C.: 5 per shard
M.D.C.: 5 per refined shard.
Bio-E cost to generate: 65 per outcrop.
Weise Chop: Weise is a collection of organically grown ceramics produced from large vent-like structures that produce large, clustered rods with bulbous gem like grows over the course of 4-7 months. Each vent varies in terms of its quantity produced, but common variants will grow rods 4-6ft wide, 6-8ft long, and 4-6ft thick with varying colors programed into them before growth begins at a small terminal of organic bio-comps and a single bio-comm for direct communication. These clusters of ceramic are mostly designed to produce beautiful and colorful S.D.C. ceramics for sale or adornment of the houses various homes and elite, with each rod being able to comfortably be molded in a similar manner to stone chipping, making artisan masons a common sight with any house utilizing this method of production. Its common as is in the name for people to collect these rods by chopping them with an acid etched weapon. Due to their softer material, M.D.C. tools commonly are used to scrape and mold these rods into various pottery and even blocks, bricks, décor, or even cutlery if desired.
S.D.C.: 125 per rod.
Bio-E cost to generate: 135 per outcrop.
Ferm Firm: A tough mushroom growth grown underground, these mushrooms are grown as large pads of brown, black, or even bronze chunks that rarely decay and even after harvesting have so far lasted as long as 60 years comfortably. These pads are harvested when they reach between 4-6ft long, 3ft wide, 3ft deep as they produce a spongy, soft, and durable padding that absorbs shock incredibly well. Its common for these to be used along railings, padded furniture, armor padding, helmet pads, work gloves, handle coverings, and other various utilities. The best part is that they self-adhere to anything they are placed on by removing a thin film that grows over their tops and take over 2000lb of force to pry off. It takes up to 3 months for the pads to mature into a large enough bloom for harvest but often are treasured by havens and Villages alike for its utility and comfort.
S.D.C.: 25 per pad, can be treated to make it M.D.C.
M.D.C.: 10 per 1/8th inch.
Bio-E cost to generate: 35 per crop, with “seeds” generating every 3 months in batches of 8.
Notes: Treatment is simple, requiring only some kneading and steam treatment. Smells similar to fruit leathers when treated, but when untreated smells like an earthy ball of grass and fodder after a lawn was mown.
Higgs Squish: Higgs Squish is a malleable semi-fluid gelatin that slops off a colony of bioluminescent creepers that grow on any underground surface. The Gel is produced at roughly 6 ounces a day when matured and appears to be a blue clotty Jello that while inedible can produce a great solvent, slick, varnish, or even when treated by baking it for 2-3 hours at 325*f will produce a paste that functions as an oil derivative with a 2000*f ignition point. These creepers take 3-8 months to mature, and no recorded event of them wilting has so far occurred. They glow with a green blue light and produce small bulbs that shine small rays of white light in random directions.
S.D.C.: 15 per outcrop
Bio-E cost to generate: 45 per crop, generates new creeper growths every month in batches of 5.
Uli Uli: An Odd sponge like growth common underground or near cave entrances, when soaked in water for roughly an hour, it will become a functioning Bio-Battery, allowing Bio-Engineered equipment to mutated while out in the field. Each sponge takes 5 ounces of water per 1/4th pound of sponge and only produces 2D6 Bio-E per 1/4th pound. These sponges are recorded to take anywhere from 8-12 months to mature with a wilting age of 25 years. They naturally dry out easily, but during a rainstorm glow with a blue-yellow emission out to 25ft at full maturity. When dried they appear to be a light-yellow coral-like structure, when soaked in a small quantity of water, they become spongy and expand into a dark tan house-sponge structure.
S.D.C.: 5 per bushel
Notes: hasn’t been cultivated as of yet for mass production, as its cycle of life is still under observation and genetic sequencing is in process.
Plips Strip: Grown as long singular vines, these strips of Red-Purple Striped vines are produced in bulk for havens in need of a more advanced communications network. Each Strip can produce a quiet localized bio-comm signal that allows two-way communication with parties in a 15ft radius of the user and often are used instead of host armor bio-comms by militia during close quarters engagements. These links are limited to a maximum of 6 individuals but allow for seamless tactical and social advantages in the compacted halls of any haven. Additionally, houses that produce advanced biotechnology will often have integrated systems of biological computers and sequenced bio-machines that require bio-comm input to use, making these crucial for day-to-day activities. These vines take 2-6 months to fully mature, going from a brown-grey coloration into its striped, red-purple coloration. Each vine commonly grows in rocky recesses and as such require minimal maintenance.
S.D.C.: 65 per 3-inch strip, strips self-adhere to any object it attached to after 3-6 seconds held in place.
Bio-E cost to generate: 65 per outcrop.
Quick Spik: Sometimes the resin ducts of host armor users just aren’t enough for the industrial needs of a colony, with people often resorting to more basic mortars and reducing the M.D.C. durability potential the havens walls often desperately need. That’s where the Quick Spik was engineered to cover, standing as a large 12ft spout that oozes in an alcove basin 4ft deep, these spouts contain countless bacteria that feed on the local sediments and left over plant matter in a designated feeder trough that maintains its constantly pumped stream of slow acting resin binder. While stored in the basin, the Quick Spik’s resin maintains a warm temperature of 85*f and stays in a liquid form even at the top of its basin, allowing for continuous use at all times. Each Quick Spik produces 2-3 gallons a day but takes in about 6-10 pounds of raw plant matter to maintain, however, if the Quick Spik isn’t fed its bacteria begin to hibernate, waiting for conditions to become preferable before reengaging its cycle of production. Each basin must be constructed, and its internal Spout must be coated with the bacteria before its production can begin.
M.D.C.: 35 per bonded connection, or 75 per 1/12th inch coating. Basins and spout have an M.D.C. of 350 each.
Bio-E cost to generate: 35 per spik and 2 weeks to grow into a full colony.
Bacterial refinery: I had always wondered where various splicers could ever obtain materials like gold, silver, or its respective alloys with the machine having a Nano plague that infects nearly every metal type imaginable until I found a large ceramic basin within my haven. There they produce a large bath of bacteria that grow with algae in a blue-green water solution, where ore is often dumped and broken apart with large crushers and slowly churned out. According to our local smiths, it takes 6-8 days of work to make 3-5 ounces of any respective rare metal, and the bacteria are required to separate any other ores or unwanted rock from the valuables. The last recorded instance of one of these being made required 6 months of construction, with a basin 16ft deep, 32ft across, 32ft wide and 4 months of that was cultivating the bacterial bath with local algae strains to keep it from being infected by other cellular life.
M.D.C.: 125 per basin.
Bio-E cost to generate: 35 per basin, and 2-4 months to cultivate its bath.
Burn Fluff: An odd growth of mold that has become very popular with havens round, as this substance produces a soft, pliable, and comfortable silk like thread that can make cloths of impressive quality. These Mold growths are coveted and take 3 months to cultivate towards maturity, with each growth taking 5 months more to begin blooming its first growths. A common complaint about these mold blooms is simply that they require far more maintenance than other options available, often needed to be misted with water every day, and then slowly pruned as they spread creeping mycelial roots across every surface it can. When these mold growths spore, they often produce a thick white pollen covering nearby with an airy texture and it takes 6 days before the spores take root and begin growing a new patch. Its very common for allergies to Burn Fluff pollen to occur, requiring a separate room to keep the spores released from escaping across the haven as a whole. However, even with its downsides its exotic texture and comfort make it worth cultivating, with most noble houses spending great effort to produce as much Burn Fluff as possible to garment their people.
S.D.C.: 135 per 1/20th inch of thread.
Bio-E cost to generate: 175 per crop, and produces 3-8 dozen crops per seeding.

Editor's Note: had time to stat the various plants and resources, it's not perfect so feel free to nerf as you see fit. Have a happy day and enjoy the Splicers content.

Eww.....Now I'm thinking of a 'Home Depot' for the Cambridge Jungle in my Rifts'verse.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: New Materials of the Splicersverse.
You're welcome, I wanted a variety of biologically active plants and micro ecosystems to explain why my current players are encountering odd oasis of organic growth, plants, and various other food crops that are slowly taking over their desert region. So far they love it.

Couldn't have said it better. Though my interpretation was simply... "You can live well of the land, horrors at night keeping the children awake are nothing new. Its been long enough though for every one of us to know that our time is draining away... Only for the horrors of flesh and sinew to take over our domain."taalismn wrote: Wed Jun 11, 2025 10:51 am "You can have a whole new world of abundance and resources....but you have to share it with THIS."
