Should I look into ATB?

Unread post by Marcethus »

I have never played ATB. I have played a bit of TMNT back in the day. I have also used TMNT as a supplement for other settings when a player or I as GM needed to build a Mutant Animal. I am slowing rebuilding my PB collection and I was wondering if I should invest in ATB and check out a setting that I haven't played or GMed in at all.

It is gone from a silly game to a more plausible one with advances in science (all things considered, it is less cartoonish might be closer to the point). I am gearing up an AtB game to play for a while before introducing the group to Rifts. I suggest pre-gen characters for your own ease of running the game so that you know what challenges to bring in for each player. In that aspect it is easier for new people than Rifts. The setting is what you make it; dark and gritty or gonzo and anything in between.

Duly noted and thank you. I will likely add it to the list of books to be added to my library as I am reassembling my Palladium collection.

I am as well, and there was a sale not long ago where I picked up the books for a great price and the shipping from Palladium is superior. I look forward to running Palladium games again. I miss it after years and with nu-DnD faltering it is easier for me to find players interested in something new to them.

Happy gaming!

The only issue I have with finding new players is how long it takes to make a Palladium character.

This is why I like pre-generated characters for Palladium games. Making the characters myself I have an idea of their strengths and weaknesses and can help players new to the system. I love the idea and settings and I even prefer classic Rifts to the Savage version, yet it can be a lot for new players.

I am not a fan of pregenerated characters but what I do is at session zero I talk with a new player and figure out what they want to play and help them build the character, I will go so far as to do most of the work but let the player make the choices that need to be made. This does lead to alot of work when you have an entire group that is new to Palladium but it is what it is.
