Ballistic Fire Spell

Hello all!

I have questions on the Ballistic fire spell. The description is wording is a little weird and I'm wondering if it simply creates a single 1D6 fire ball per level, each of which can be directed at a single different target? i.e. A seventh level wizard creates 7, 1D6 fire balls that each hit a single target (7 in total). Or does it create some form of Barrage that can strike multiple targets with all seven missiles? Or am I just completely getting this wrong?

Also, if this spell were translated to SDC, would you increase the damage? (Even being able to target multiple enemies at once isn't great if it does so little damage).

As I read it... (BoM p115, 2nd printing)

A level 7 Mage would create 7 fiery missiles, each inflicting 1D6 MD. Each of the 7 missiles can be directed at a different target. So he could:
--Attack up to 7 targets, each receiving 1D6 MD
--Divide the missiles between less than 7 targets. Such as 4 missiles at Bob (4D6 MD), 2 missiles at Fred (2D6 MD), and 1 at Barney (1D6 MD).
--Attack just one target, with the volley inflicting 7D6 MD.

As for converting it to SDC, generally on "low magic" worlds, MDC spells convert straight to SDC. So I'd leave the damage at 1D6 per missile.

Sounds similar to the shards of ice spell which is (in 1st Ed Fantasy) 1d8 per shard, but has a fairly short range.

Depending on your GM. One of the main things I like it for is downing mini-missiles. Sense defined as one spell attack and that now defined as one action. Most Mine missiles only have 1 M.D.C a few have 2 M.D.C petty much makes it auto anti volley of mini-missiles.
