Of course it's possible.

Nightlords are powerful. a number of them could likely combine their powers to kill a God, but one by themselves could be restrained by a powerful being.

hell, if the OLD ONE'S of palladium are kept under lock, a nightlord sure can be

But, why would you want to? Just to keep it locked up... or assert control over it?

three lizard mages? oh hell yes they could bind a Nightlord. they'd have to be careful but they certainly could do it.

Funny you should mention that, as it always seemed to me that "The Dark" could very well BE Apsu...

The only way I can think that you could capture and hold a Nightlord is to make it use up most of it's P.P.E and then keep it alive by giving it a small amount to sustain itself. So basicly, any one who can suvive the Nightlord for that long would have an easy time holding it down (care would also have to be made so it cannot teleport away to safty).

Getting a mage to tell you where the hydra is...10,000 gold
Hiring a summoner... 40,000 gold
Hiring one hundred 10th level mercenaries... 98,567 gold
Giving a hydra skull to your necromancer... priceless

Apsu just dosn't have the kind of power to bestow that kind of power on nightlords.

I always asumed it was the sleeping Nesota doing it (The Old One of Darkness)

Good call too, though I hate anything dealing with the Old ones besides the fear they bring up.
Apsu is just the most appealing to me as a basis.

well, if ya wanna change him I guess that's your privlage.

but why do you not like the old ones out of curiosity.

Well its the fact that they are the ultimate beings in the Palladium universe. If they were a serious threat it would be one thing but that would mean that entire game systems would be destroyed if they escaped/woke up.
To me they are best used as boogy men then actual threats.

Ummm, them wiping out entire realities is kinda the reason why they were put to sleep to begin with...

I agree, im just saying in my games I dont make much reference to them because they have no real impact what so ever except for the fear they cause.
Its far mar likely to encounter say a Avatar/Essence fragment of a god-like being then it is to encounter a Old Ones Avatar/Essence Fragment.

Though speaking of which, did the Dream Dancer in the Rifter ever do anything concerning the Old Ones? It made mention that she had contacted the Sleeping Mind of one. But then cut off and I havent seen any additional material since.

I don't have the Rifters in question, but I do know the Old One's book for palladium fantasy does say that the Old One's dreams sometime break off as living realities, and sometimes these dream fragments cna bond and make witches.
