An orb that creates an area effect energy shield.

Final battle eh? An escape portal to the nightlands?

I like that idea... but the fact that the revolutionary war relics would come a little after the final battle of the Nightlords on Earth before being banished.

Are those in Through the Glass Darkly? Or, in that Rifters? I thought it was in Darkly, but I didn't see it last time I flipped through it. And, I'll have to grab that Rifter if it isn't.

And, yeah... there would be some powerful spells being thrown around there.

I have created many artifacts/Rune weapons and tend to combine the abilities from both to create super unique items with realy twisted plot uses. :demon:

One idea, that has be been done to death, but can still be interesting, is some hugely powerful object that got smashed or destroyed and now exists only in pieces. If the "badguys" collect all the pieces you're completely screwed, so you have to find them first!
