I'm sure there is a Nightlands story in this ...

I heard about this... but I didn't think about Nightbane when I did. My question is: why did they build a town there? Is there an advantage to their location?

Actually there is a good reason for a settlement there: Defense!
The place is in a mountain valley, and is therefore hard to get troops into.
For the townspeople this is a very good thing. Anyplace that is hard to get troops into is a place that troops will not want to get to. All this means is that being almost isolated is a good defense. :quiet:

But I do remember something about a satellite with giant mirrors on it to zap vampires at night. I think it was in a Vampire: The Masquerade game. Would that work for killing vampires?

Nope reflected sunlight is not true sunlight. Otherwise the moon would be able to kill vampires. Something about once it's reflected using technology it looses its mystical properties. There was a thread in the Rift forum over this.

I love this. I can't imagine anyone coming up with something like
that as a plot line for a role playing game? Although it make sense
that it came out of Europe. I just don't see it coming out of the U.S.
