What books/movies/etc would you all recommend for story ideas for a Nightbane game? Anything will help.

Yeah, there is the obvious answer of the Buffy/Angelverse (whose RPGs were written by...guess who?). There's also Gargoyles; the first season is now out on DVD for all of $20, so it's worth investing in. Hellsing (not the abysmal movie Van Helsing, but the anime series) is also worth looking into, although it's not one of my favorites. The 90s Batman animated series has the right tone, as far as I'm concerned. As far as movies, Dark City has a Nightbane-ish vibe, and Bubba Ho-tep can be good for some inspiration for a goofier game (though really more along the lines of BtS). I've also heard some people suggest Van Helsing, but frankly I think that Stephen Sommers needs to be sodomized with a pneumatic drill for making that godawful movie (for lack of a suitably malodorus term).

Thanks for the help so far. I might use the Buffy angle to a small degree...but I never watch Angel and can't stand Smallville.

Hart, not Heart. Heart is an organ, or an 80s singing duo. A hart is a buck deer.

Book wise, Clive Barkers Cabal is bloody good, can't rate the film because I haven't seen it but its call Night Breed, what are the chances of that eh, thing is it was out before Nightbane and I personally think CJ got his idea for the bane from this book.

Underworld had a good "hidden war between those that shouldn't exist" vibe to it. I would also recommend Hellboy, the American Werewolf movies, and Constantine.
