It starts now

You sit in a blackened room, its filled with
the smell of tobacco almost like the room
has absorbed the smell into its very existence.
Other solgers surround you, some seem to posses
a confidence bordering on arrogance. Others seem
nervous one solger clasps a rosery in his hand
tears streak down his face. Another is leaning against
the wall seething with rage you can barely make out
the dear john letter being squeezed to death in his hands.
All around you is the sound of light chatting.

Then a burst of artificial light seeps into the room.
A man walks forward the you can see the blinding
glint of his medals. He is flanked by a rather nervous
man in glasses, and what looks to be a albino woman.
The man in glasses gets behind a old video projector,
the old man with the metals walks towards the front
of the room

"welcome to Roswell troops, this has not been an easy
time for any of us. It is a time of great change, Some
of you are veterans of the war, I'm sorry you have been
called to service again but the fate of humanity is at stake.
Some of you are new to the service we welcome you to
our ranks. Many of you will die, surrender is not a option
slavery and torture is the fate that will meet those captured
by the enemy who are not lucky enough to be killed emidatly.
For this reason you have been supplyed with black capsules
with the skull on it. The basis of how we fight war is also
changing Id like to say that we know what were doing.
Sadly we are stuck in a trial and error stage. The tactics
we discover in korea can save and liberate millions.
Private Bob Haley could you please turn on the projector?"

A black and white image becomes imprinted on the off white
wall of the room. Its a grainy image, you can hear out of
sync patriotic music blaring out of the machine.
A very beatafull blond woman in slinky black dress starts
talking. The room is temporally filled with hooting and hollering.
She smiles as if almost embarrassed and starts talking.

"Hello My name is Maryaland Monroe, I don't think any of you
have heard about me but my job is to tell you why we fight."

On of the solgers gets up and says "baby I don't want to fight
how about we cuddle?" the room erupts in laughter
The general storms down the room and stares the offending
marine down as the film continues on.


"From what we've heard from russian exiles, our enemys call
them selves the night lords. Our enemy first showed their
presence during 1943 during the battle of moscow. Stalin
was apparently so desperate for victory that he used the dark
arts to open up our world to the night lords. This caused the
event we today call the dark day. Stalin didn't know what
he had summoned to our world, after VJ day in 1945
we had the event witch will forever be known as the night
of long knives. The nightlords over threw there communist
allys and took over.

Despite our best efforts to stemmy the efforts of the night lords
they still took over much of europe. Nukeclear weapons have
proven to be eneffective. Worst of all was the berlin massacre
during 1947, in witch every single man woman and child in berlin
was slaughtered. This prompted the US and other countrys to
build a giant defensive fortification named after the slaughtered
citizens of Berlin the Berlin wall.

Things looked bleak for humanity then in 1948 the Roswell
incident happened. A alien mother ship under the command
of the guardians smashed into Roswell new mexico and well
squised the inhabitants. We emidatly quarantined the Roswell
landing in order to find out were we stood. Thank fully the guardians
were not hostel and were instead refugees who fled their home world
due to a genocidal war being waged on them by a near by planet.
Sadly the quarantine didn't prevent the great plage witch infected
up to 80% of north americas population. Relatively few people died but
a estimated 5% of our population has been changed completely and
utterly.

In 1949 Mao betrayed humanity and the night lords gained control of
china, 1949 was a year of bad defeats for humanity, the night lords
have consolidated their hold on eastern europe, russia, mongolia,
and china.

Now it is 1950 and the night lords have decided to attack the
tiny nation of Korea. It is your job to draw a line in the sand.
We are not helpless with brand new strengh, strange alien
tectnology, and the latest in tectnology we will regain our
planet!"

The movie cuts to black, you walk out side with your
fellow troops to the mess hall, you pass a poster
of a black metal clad arm reatching out of a mirror and
killing a woman, the writing on the poster says vanity kills
cross tape your mirrors, another poster has a glowing man
it says the enemy can be anyone psyics check your fellow
solgers auras!

You are seated down to eat as a young man in a fancy suit
starts singing some song called hound dog, his hips gyrating
to the beat.

Kain walks into the mess hall and gets his food looking for someplace to sit with someone that he might have gone through boot camp with.

The rather angry man who was reading the dear john letter
waves you over to the table.

"Kain you old SOB nice to see you, I cant belive my luck
the day before I get shipped out and kathy sends me a letter
saying shes going with a damn lawyer, I knew those SOBs
were evil before but this just clinches it you don't steal a mans
wife expecially when hes going off to some forsaken hell hole.
Oh by the way Karen called you know my cousin and she is
interested, personally I don't know what you see in her but
hell heres her phone number as promised."

Sitting down at the table with the angry man. "Hey good to see you too. Yeah Lawyers are evil SOB's." Taking the number and putting it in his pocket. "Thanx, I will call her tonight if they give us time" Laughs "Provided we survive the day."

The angry man gets a very solum look on his face
"Kain don't joke about stuff like that, this USO shows
going to be the last bit of fun were going to get for a
long time."
His eyes squint a little and his tightly grasps a cup of
beer.
"You know they are allowing us one last night on the
town, now you know damn well I wouldn't give that
number to just any one, but you and I we go way back
right to the old neaborhood. Able and Kain its a little Ironic
expecially since I was the hot head of the two. If your really
serous about her Kain then her address in Roswell is on the
back, bring dandelions she loves those things."
-Able starts swirling his cup of beer looking pensive-
"These night lords I've heard things about them a few of
the guys here manned the wall, the storys my god the storys.
if even half of them are true. This isn't going to be a easy fight
Kain were going in half cocked with a whole bunch of new toys
that we don't know the limits of, new abilitys half practised, and
with out a friggen clue what tacits will work. Its all a mess Kain
a big freaking mess."

Simon sits down at the table, looking at the bowl of soup he was gicen, then around the room to try and figure out if it's the fork or the spoon one is supposed to use. Not seeing anyone to help he picks the bowl up in his hands and takes a slow slurp from it.

The person sitting across Simon stops his smoking a bit
and points to the spoon near Simon.

"You use that solger, kind of like his."

The tired solger then shows Simon how to use a spoon.

"the other way could burn the roof of your mouth."

Looks to the soldier, then the spoon, then smiles, "Oh... well that makes sense, but wouldn't one be able to eat the soup faster if it was served cooler so one can eat it without the spoon slowing one down? And thank you for correcting me on the proper etiquite of soup eating though."

The solger takes another drag on his cigerete

"my wife said the same thing when frist met,
I was one of the first marens to be stationed here
two years good years. Yea it probally would be easyer
if we cooled it down and let people swallow it whole but
then we would end up missing a lot of the experence.
By the way My names Sergent Hopkins, but every one
calls me smoky acording to the lists Im going to be your
comanding officer. The other troops im going to be in charge
of are scattered around this room. Still If you got any more
questions just ask."

Kain Nods to Abel "Yeah I am serious about her. And I think I will go and have a night on the town with her. Thanks for the flower info too. and bro sorry about the morbid joke," Finishing his food he gets ready to stand up and head to the phone to make a call.

Kains hands become soaked in sweat
as he makes his call. Suddenly a sultury
voice answers "Hello Kain I was expecting
you..."

Uh Hi Jessica. I was wondering if you were free to go out tonight?" His voice a bit shaky at first but straightening out as he speaks.

you here a sigh
"Stop being so formal Kain weve
known each other for years, and its
your last night before deployment.
I assume my cosin told you my appartments
address right? Well met me there we have
to make your last night in Roswell memorable."

Kain chuckles a bit, "Sorry Jess and yeah he gave me the address. I am on my way, I shall be there in a few." As he hangs up the phone he heads over to the motorpool and tries to get a vehicle for going off base for the night.

The motor pool is initially reluctant
to drive you around but when they
learn that your going to see your
girl one last time before getting shiped
to korea, they become amazingly helpfull
almost instantly you find that your uniform
has become pressed cleaned and put back
on you. You are given the flowers nessary
for your trip and after a breakneck ride
through town you find yourself infront of
jessicas appartment, Its amazing what
the millatary can do in 30 minutes.

Kain arches a brow then heads to the door and knocks.

The door opens, Kain see's a awsomely beatafull
woman, her red hair swirls around her head.
Kains jaws drop as he sees her in a simple black
dress. She giggles as she lets you in. "One good
thing you can say about the plage Kain it certinally
did a wonder for my figure."

Kain Chuckles as he offers Jessica the Dandelions. "I got these for you. Though their beauty is nothing compared to yours." He says after be picks his jaw off the floor and follows her in.

(Kains Description: 5ft10in tall medium build, he has dark blond hair and blue grey eyes. He looks a bit bookish but can hold his own when needed. When he can/appropriate he wears a black leather trench coat covered with arcane symbols, it was given to him by his mentor.)

The next day you wake up with a startle
by pounding at the door, you open Jessicas
door to find two men one of them says
"We are the military police you are to report
to the base for deployment emidatly."
The other one sees Jessica wrapped up in a blanket
in the corner of his eyes.
He looks at the other man and then says to you
"You have 30 minutes then you must leave."
The shorter one looks angry
"Orders clearly state that he is to leave emidatly."
The taller one squints his eyes in rage
"Who is the Sargent and who is the private."
The shorter ones hangs in head in shame
The taller man looks at you and says
"You have 30 minutes Solger make the best of
them."
He then shuts the door.

"Thank you Sargent Smokey sir, it is a pleasure to meet you.", then in a softer voice so the rest of the room can't here, "Do we know yet what we will be doing here yet?"

Smoky looks at you and says
"This is our last night to have fun
before we get sent to Korea my advice
solger live it up while you can."

Kain moves over to Jessica and kisses her gently on the cheek so as not to wake her. He then looks for a paper and been to write her:

My Darling Jessica,
I had to leave and didn't want to wake you. I will be heading to Korea by the time you get read this, I will write you as often as I can. I will be coming home too you can bet on that, Well Gotta go.

Kain then does the 3 S's and heads out with the MP's.

After taking care of your affairs
you make your way to the train station
your surrounded by other extreamly tired
solgers. Apparently almost every one lived
their last night in rosewell to the utmost.
You are seated by a milatary conductor. You
meet a very tired solger, and one of the Guardians.
The guardian doesnt appear to be tired in the least
and is talking the other solgers ear off. The solger
gets up lits a cigerete and says "my name is Sergent
Hopkins and Ill be in charge of the unit next to me
is Private Simon apparently hes the only one who decided
to spend the night actually sleeping."

The sergent takes a deep drag off of his cigerite
"You must be Kain, the boys in the motter pool are
worse then school girls when it comes to gossip. Still
you are by far the only man who spent their last night
saying their goodbyes. So I know how you feel, solger.
Bye the way listen to me when we get into the feild
just because I dont belive in micky mouse stile formality
doesnt mean I dont know what Im talking about, I was
in Berlin before it went down and I know how these SOBs
operate. By the way welcome to the united states marine
core, if you have any questions ask them now before I
catch some shut eye."

Kain shrugs, "Well sir for starters sir, what's our general mission over there?" He thinks for a while, "And what are we expecting to encounter as far as the enemy?"

The sargent takes another drag off his cigaret
"Our missions simple keep Korea out of the enemys
filthy hands, unfortantly no one knows how were going
to do that. We've just got a whole bunch of new toys
and super powers dumped on us and no one has a freaking
clue how to put it together. As for the enemy, I was told
I only saw a smattering of what their truly capable of.
They've got people who can shape shift to look like any one.
One time one of buddys was giving some candy to a little
german kid, then the kid transformed into a mass of tenticals
with teeth the thing bit off his head and splattered his entrails
all over the place. That sort of thing happened alot in berlin
before it went down. There were also these flying things in
black armor we lost a lot of good men that way. The worst
thing were creatures in black metal armor. Our guns seemed
to be almost useless against them, they could and did tear
people apart with amost super human strengh, they could jump
six feet in the air from a standing position, and they had these
black blades that could cut through any thing. I personally saw
them take down a tank. Any thing else you want to ask?"

Looking at the Sarge, "Not at the moment" Kain then leans back in his seat and closes his eyes to get some rest while we wait.

A few weeks past the people every one
gets to know bits a pieces about their fellow
troops. A few talk about the new weapons
organatech and other wise that their unit will
be using. The biggest discovery is that almost
every one will be using organatech body armor!
The lone exception to this are shape shifters for
some reason the organatech suits just wont
respond properly with a night bane user. The 5
or six night bane in the unit have been assured that
americas best scientists are working on the problem.
The trip aross the ocean also proves to be uneventful
Eventually you finally land in Korea. Every one is issued
their armor, the weapon they did best with in basic and
a few gernades. Initally the landscape is serine and is
mostly undamaged but as you travel further and further
north, the ravages of war become more and more obvious.
It is March 18th and the war has been going on for a full
2 weeks.

(OOC: figures I would end up being one of the schmucks with no armor. not that I need it anyways with talents and spells)

Kain is one of the soldiers that keeps his mouth shut and does his job as well as he can.

Sergent Hopkins takes a long drag off his
cigerete and looks at the men under his
comand. "Were going to be traveling en
mass our beloved cornal belives that we
will have the advantage of numbers that
way. Its BS of corse the enemy has russia,
china and half of europe, numbers are never
going to be on our side. My advice is this
stick in the middle, that way we have meat
sheilds to protect us all around. No heroes
my job is to get you out alive, dont make
me work for my pay check."

Looking to the Sarge and raises his hand "and whom is going to be the 'meat shield' as you put it?"

Sergent Hopkins takes yet another drag
on his cigaret "the poor SOBs who are
ether crazy, stupid or just plain unlucky
thats who."

That you sir, I will try to continue to be alive before we leave.

"finally some one with some freaking
common sense."

Kain eyes Simon warily, then comments. "We all hope to live through the night. Some of us are just a bit more likely to do so"

Sergent hopkins takes another drag off
one of his semingly endless supplys of
cigerets, secretly you wonder where he
gets so many of them. Youve yet to see
him not smoking. A few people in your
unit claim he smokes in his sleep.

"Ah give the alean a break solger where
all in this mess together, Im sure hes
got a girl to come back too just like you
and me."

Kain shrugs nonchalantly. "So what's the mission other than surviving?"

Sergent Hopkins takes yet another drag
on his cigaret

"The enemy has the city of Phongyang under
siege our job is to break the siege, and resupply
the city, after that I dont know what we will do."

Kain nods, "well when do we move out sir?"

Sorry, but as I said in your recruitment thread, PbP are not allowed on PB's site. Sorry to say it.

Alternatives for you would be using a yahoo groups, or even my site. or other sites, plenty of people have there own msg boards around here. Cafe Risque, Swankytown, etc...
