Just as it says. If none of the main answers apply, please post your answer and vote "Other".

I think you missed the 'other' option. And My Vampires are a mix and match from a variety of stories/legends/games. Though I do have different vampire 'breeds/bloodlines' so your silver may work on a European vampire, but on the Chinese one? Not even a worry for that hopping boy. ;)

Option "J" - "Other"

I use "real-world" vampires.

I don't really like what PB has done with vampires. I still use the Alien Intelligence angle, but if you're following PB rules to the letter, I'm to busy beating the snot out of you!

I used to use my own vampires, but I kinda got sick of that. I rather like Palladium's vampires as they are. Distinguishes them from everything else.

I mostly stick to by the book, although I like to alter things just a bit to confound the sorts of players who like to read the books and know everything about killing it in advance. A few of my cosmetic alterations have been: Holy symbols only work if it's your religion. Atheist? sorry Charlie...
Particularly old and powerfully vamps require holy water to be destroyed, although they still have an aversion to running water.
They can walk on walls. They can teleport short distances.
They can command swarms of verminous insects.
In my own campaign, vampires can cotrol werewolves as an extension of their ability to control regular wolves. Werewolves passionately resent this.
Kind of like a warlock keeping an elemental too long.

I'm with the above. By the book, that's why we have books. If I want an oddity or variance, I'll create my own seperate creature and not call it a Vampire (I'm an Undead Hunter, I care about these distinctions :-P)

I disallow vampires to be player characters. That keeps people from trying to make my Palladium game into a White Wolf knock-off.
Sorry, the vamp is an evil bloodsucking monster that preys upon humanity.

You'll find the Wampyr in Nightbane.
The vamps are all different, because one publisher likes one particular vampire mythology, while others like different ones. Some people like Bram Stoker, others like Anne Rice.

As far as variants, the Wampyr is enough for me.

I never used the Alien Intelligence until Rifts: before that, the idea of a supernatural disease/curse was good enough for me.
For Rifts though, I like AIs. Also, I like using an occasional AI Vs. a powerful demon lord or Nightlord, with the PCs caught in the middle.

Captain Cadaver was an awesome villain.

I hated Anne Rice vampires (not her writing: just her take on vampires), and I was never a WW fan, or a fan of any of the romatic goth vampire craze.

My personal approach to vampires will be to continue to make them invulnerable to most forms of harm, but vulnerable to magic and able to be killed by Dragons and greater gods. Water will be a deterent, and naturally occuring waterfalls and rivers and such will continue to destroy them, but no more water guns of death. Silver will continue to hurt them, and staking them will as well.

In addition to holy water injections as a defense against vamps, colliodal silver suppliments would do wonders. However, I would advise against a garlic regimin as it is difficult to be stealthy when ones odor procceds him.~Nathan

Palladium vampires basically require you to change your way of thinking of them.

They are not so much "General supernatural predator" as "Supernatural minon of a greater being"

when you stop thinking of them as predators and start thinking of them as minions, you get closer to palladiums idea.
