Hi there,

hmm, Eryk, good idea.

When y'all go, please give me a shout.

I don't know what the movie show times in the U.S. of A. are, but the best for my humble self would be a 10 pm or later thing. You know, game till the gavel drops and then have inordinate amounts of popcorn at the movies. :-D

Cheers

Booooo!

Booooo?

The movie hasn't even started, Mike. ;)

Seriously, I love superhero movies and am not too strict when measuring them up to the book(s) they are based on, but you know some work excellently in the movie medium they are transferred to, and some .... not so much. Hope Avengers is of the former class.

The new Spidermen movies, notably the first one, are great, and so was the last Batman as well as most X-Men and Iron Man I (even though the latter only because it was cool and Downey Jr. shines as Stark/IM), but for example the Green Hornet, The Shadow, or "Amazing Spider-Man" TV series, well, the latter was quite something but not really good. And the 70s (or was that 80s) Superman movies ... I mean they were alright but the crystal themed unloveable Crypton coulisse *gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh*

Long story short, I always feel a certain amount of trepidation when seeing a superhero flick for fear even the gist of the comic has been hacked to bits. The Thor movie was a "good" example for how not to do it. As such really quite funny for some straight popcorn fun, but in my book not at all the Thor from the comic books. I was extremely sorry that the Dr. Donald Blake identity was given up. I always like the disabled skinny brainy guy turn into the God of Thunder.

Now, as IMO the Thor movie was not "IT", and Captain America was "only" okay-ish (but that was mainly because the end felt like the movie is missing a couple of hours), and the Avengers are a difficult package anyway (so much power in one place is difficult to challenge with credibility and I REALLY hope they took a slice from Mark Millar to make the movie as Ultimates was aweseome) - and where is "Wasp"? - I am looking forward to the movie but hope I will not have to cry like my daughter when her favourite cuddly toy cannot be found after the movie has started.

All that said, here is looking forward to the movie!

Cheers

She's doing shameful things in my brain. I don't plan releasing her on account of her bad behavior. She's quite naughty.

Yes, established, I'll be there, although I may not be walking very fast... I can press about 100lbs with this leg, but I'm back up to 175lbs, so it's still slow going...

Reviews coming in for this movie are phenomenal. Even from critics...which blows my mind, considering how detached they are from what the average movie-goer likes.

http://movies.yahoo.com/blogs/movie-tal ... 44149.html

Anyways, at what theater will everyone be going to? I'm wondering if buying tickets in advance may be the way to go if the hype is this significant...

According to Fandango, the closest theater (only 2.8 miles from PB and 4 from the hotel) is MJR Westland Grand Digital Cinema 16, 6800 North Wayne Road in Westland. Tix weren't available for it yet on Fandango as of this post time. I'm thinking this is our place. Next closest theater is quite a ways off.

OK, my bad. The closest theater to PB is Emagine Canton, which is a mile and a half from PB. They DO have a midnight showing! However, they do NOT have online ticketing through Fandango. I'll continue to look...

You can get tickets from the site itself. Just pick May 3rd as the date and you'll see options for the Avengers movie.

OK, here we go. Looks like Emagine Canton has four Midnight runs of Avengers. I'm curious as heck as to what the E3 is, but tix for that are $19! Recliners and wait staff better be included for that price...

Here's the link. http://www.emagine-entertainment.com/sh ... emaid=1002

Just need to decide on a time...

Woohoo! Showed my wife the trailers and she's firmly on-board. So which showing/time are we all going to? (Cheaper and non-3D is best for us.)

Okay, there are FOUR midnight showings at Emagine Canton (a mere 1.5 miles from Palladium Books).
12:01- E3 showing (not sure what that means but it is 3D with luxury seats available)
12:02- Standard digital (non-3D) with motion seating(?) available (tix as high as $21)
12:03- Standard digital (non-3D)
12:04- digital 3D showing

3D tix average $15, non-3D are $11. What show works for everyone?

Popcorn is $3,465 for a small. Upgrade for a quarter. >.<

12:03 sounds good for the wife and I.

Oh, and I'm driving a van with seating for 3 additional people (4 if you wanna squeeze) so I can definitely take people from the OH to the theater and then the hotel afterwards if anyone needs a ride.
