I know DR didn't go down as you would have preferred, but there will be plenty of DR fans at the OH who will want to meet you and game with you. Let the past become water under the bridge...or in your case, water with bloated corpses waiting to feast upon whoever crosses the bridge. Either way, come to the OH, run a bunch of games and have fun.

I really have to cite this one for it's exceptionally poor grammar, because while its intent, as I would infer, is something sweet, because the usage of the word "to" instead of "too" and no comma, it's literal meaning is something very creepy and as a result, very funny.

Hey there,

well, for whatever that is worth, I would love to meet you at the OH, Josh. But then, I will likely be at the hotel this time.

Regarding the issue you have, I do not know of that (my first OH was 2010) and do not know whether it needs to be discussed here, but if it were me, I would want to clear the air. Such things should be discussed between the parties concerned. No hurt is petty, it may just be more redeemable than thought. Just saying. No harm intended.

Dead Reign is great. Have not had a chance to play it so far, but it is a very enjoyable :D read.

Kind regards

It may sound petty ( yes I know it does) but it felt like an intentional snub.

You know, not to tread over a dried up cow-pattie but I kinda doubt this was an "intentional snub" if what you told me was true and you guys buried the hatchet over your split. I would be more apt to chalk it up to them writing up the list before your falling out and not having the presence of mind to amend it after you left. Mind, I had very little interaction with either of you two about the ordeal but from an objective standpoint I find this scenario a bit more plausible.

Keep in mind that my first OH as a full-fledged Freelancer I was handed a tag that had "GM" on it while Irvin got one with "Freelance Writer." I didn't take it personally when Wayne told me he couldn't remember what I was working on for Palladium, but it took me pestering him all weekend (and promising to say nice things about him online  ) to get a writer's badge. We both know this kind of stuff happens, so maybe give them the benefit of the doubt on being left out? :?

They should have DVDs of "Deliverance" in Germany by now.

DVD?

We are happy to have "Gone with the Wind" and all those stirring - if a bit disconcerting due to the contained violence - Elvis movies on Super 8. When it is cold outside like now we can actually have a cold beer, too, when we have put up the big screen in the living room. Mind you, the super rich have ice boxes, of course; in a proud EC-funded rediscovery of Roman high tech, the ice is transported from the glaciers of the Alps right to where you live. Naturally if sad, lots of brave people give their lives in the attempt, but then *Hendrik shrugs* it is for a cold beer and we Germans go to amazing lengths to get to that. I sadly cannot afford that, but I have underfloor heating now. It's a drag to collect enough cowpats, but when all the family helps it is only 3 months of hard work and it will heat the room for winter.

Which reminds me: I need to use my bicycle trainer more often now lest the Lufthansa plane does not take off without sufficient power and God knows who else will ride the plane with me.

As weird as it may sound, it is truly much appreciated, especially the Marshall Plan.

That said, our guys propelled your guys to the moon. Without us you would probably still try to do that with a big slingshot. Yer welcome, too. :D

Wow. I was about to say that this thread was totally derailed but Hendrik brought it back on topic by talking about the space program. Yay countdown.

Thank you, Brandon, and sorry, I don't wanna derail this fine thread but have to answer Mike.

No, no, your body builders / actors / governors may be, the poached scientists were not. Wernher von Braun was Prussian. So was his brother Magnus. Generalmajor Dr Walter Robert Dornberger (later a business leader of Bell aircraft  ) was from Hess (that is my State) ... over 100 German scientists became US citizens ... check forOperation Paperclip, I don't think you will find too many Austrians there. :P ... Not that that differentiation would have mattered at the time at all. ... I also assume that these scientists were extremely happy to be in the US. I mean work in the job they love as before, not having to point rockets at somebody (for strange reasons many scientists always seem to be able to make themselves believe that "no, this is not a weapons program"), be completely off rationing (as Europe including the UK was at the time), no prison time, no doubts regarding any Nuremburg trials, chocolate in stores, etc etc. what more can you want.

By the by, if have the time and interest for a very interesting biography, read up on spymaster Reinhard Gehlen.

If you feel the need to really loose faith in justice or humanity, read up on, inter alia, Hubertus Strughold.

People forget so much so quick, mostly because the knowledge is no longer "handy".

You would have to ask the hotel if they allow dogs. It is the Plymoth Clocktower hotel.

Nelly,
If need be, I have a brother who lives about 15 minutes from PB's warehouse (my wife, myself & my son will be staying there during the Open House). He owns a dog and has a fenced back yard. He might be willing to put your pooch(s) up for a couple nights. Let me know if you want me to speak with him.
A wise man once said, "Only a fool takes offense where none was intended." I repeat this good advice to myself at least once a day.

Calm, reasoned discourse is the best way to change minds; too bad all the calm & reason in the world can't open a willfully closed mind.
