2012 Open House

Unread post by mumah »

I'm just throwing this out there, but I'm going to give a prize to the best costume based off my design at next year's Open House.

Hey there, Major Mike,

in any case my vision just blurred with - manly, of course - tears of happiness as your post pre-supposes that there WILL BE a 2012 Open House! Fabulous!!!

Sadly, I will not be able to come in my true form as customs tends to frown upon old uniforms. :-o

Kindest regards,
Hendrik

It's a running gag between Hendrik and I. He's German. So it's obvious he's referring to his Gimp costume.

I was thinking of coming as a nightbane in facade form or as a natural genius OCC.

Both outfits are extremely similar and I wear them daily.

Have you ever drawn either of those?

Or I might just go naked representing all those times you've drawn a blank! :puke:

See what you've done Mike! You have caused a crazy thread!

But I'm curious about what the prize will be... First prize may be a doozy as some of the Aliens I have seen are big and would cost a lot to make.

I'm going to keep it secret, to be revealed at the Open House. It could be an autographed Snickers Bar. It could be a Lamborghini. Or something in between.

I will do the art before the con, so it won't be specific to the winner. But it will be cool, and it will be unique! And will probably feature one my French girls.

My wife and I will be passing through Missouri on our way up from Texas, but there may not be room; we're still debating taking the kids with us (ages 11 - 2, so only the oldest would really get anything out of it). I'll keep you in mind if we decide not to take the kids, though.

Hmmm... How could I top my crazy-glitter boy costume from the last open house?

One not wrapped in tin foil :P

:x TIN FOIL! :x I am so offended that you would imply that I'd stoop so low. As if I were some lazy, procrastinating, last moment... Oh wait, that's right, I did use tin foil. Nevermind.

So you really think I should lose the tin foil? I mean, I think it looks kind of classy... :D

If I do, there might be a way to get 4 people in my Accord again... though Mike will have to ACTUALLY pack light for once.

let me know if you can go, and when. i know i'll be trying to ensure i have the free schedule to go (once again it lands on the weekened before finals. ugh. though i have no idea what my class schedule will be like)
since we live in the same rough area, maybe i can hitch a ride

Even if I can't go, I usually end up being the one that coordinates most of my associates' travel arrangements. Keep me up to date on your particulars and I'll see what I can do about finding you a seat with someone. As it stands now, if I do go (and drive my car) I'll probably already be full up. However, there are almost ALWAYS 2+ vehicles from this approximate area heading up.

given i don't know my schedule for that time yet, i'm hoping to save up enough money that i can fly up and back. then i can have a bit more leeway. but i'll try to keep you up to date.

I live in Saline, Michigan which is only about 25 minutes away from Westland.

If help is needed to set up or something I would gladly help the weekend before or the days leading up to the OH after I get out of work.

Might be kind of fun to do that.

How much does it cost to go to the OH? I heard $75 for VIP usually?

I think the 3 day pass will be cheaper than the VIP. In 2010 it was $60 for the VIP, and $40 for the 3 day pass. So I'd guess around $50-$60 for the 3 day pass in 2012. The individual night passes in 2010 were Fri. $16, Sat. $16, & Sun. $12. Not much difference between the 3 day package, and the individual tickets, but you save a few bucks. I'm guessing it will be around $20 a day, and maybe $15 for Sun. with a savings of $5 if you get the 3 day pass. I'm just looking at the past costs and projecting, so I could be off the mark. We'll probably find out tonight.

Sounds like the same price as 2010, just an increase in VIP tickets.

Hi Jorel,

Pally online store (for FRI-SUN. You will have to purchase the VIP THU ticket separately, but you will find it from there.

See you there!

Kindest regards
Hendrik
