... I'm really happy with how First Responders is turning out. It will be on Kevin's desk in a matter of weeks; I wanted to crank it by the end of July, and that might still happen. If not, I should be able to finish edits while on my Vegas trip in a month or so, and have it in to Kevin shortly thereafter. I also have some illustrations that need to be submitted with the manuscript.
I'm not saying that every word is gonna be gold. There are things in the book that probably won't make your gaming pants go crazy, but I think it all adds something to the setting. For example, I'm not sure that anybody is begging for a quick description of sub-zero sleeping bags, but as a part of the section on survival and fire/rescue equipment, I think its presence is justified and useful.
What I do think is that, for the first time, you'll be able to take a solid look at the world on 12/22/2098 and play a game there. In a 64 page book, I think that the population of the world, and the palette of potential characters, will grow in number and deepen in, uh... depth, exponentially.
