Rune-

You are correct. We've created a few "readme" sections to try and help people join games, but no real navigation post. We'll have to see about fixing that.

PC groups in the main Rifts: MercTown game have two options for adventures. In the city of MercTown, and outside it.
The threads for the MercTown part of the site have been more-or-less fully fleshed out- there is a thread for every (or almost every) location described in the actual book, as well as a few others our enterprising mods have added over the years.

However, those adventures are considered more along the lines of side-quests. The full adventures are listed below the "North America & MercTown" section, in the section entitled "Adventures". Each of the subforums in that category is a different group's adventure, and within that subforum you will find the current adventure thread for that group (that is, the thread with the most recent posts in it).

Kagashi's monster game can be viewed in much the same way, only in the "Eurasia and Africa" section below "Adventures".

Also, your impression is correct. We do not allow people to register accounts unless they plan on playing and/or GMing. Generally speaking, folks have two weeks from the day their account is activated to get cracking (though we've been known to be flexible when necessary).

Hope that helps. Please feel free to pipe up with additional questions.

Well, I guess I don't have much to contribute here...my Left and Right hand men did the job as well as I could have done it.

Lurkers are always welcome to follow along their favorite characters or groups--but please DO NOT REGISTER AN ACCOUNT IF YOU JUST WANT TO LURK, that's neither required nor desired.

I'd encourage everyone to refer to the very first post here if they have questions of what games are availble for play.

I also encourage ANYONE to contact me or my "Hands" if they have any questions/suggestions about the site.

I'm interested in playing. I'm sure on what I would like to play just yet or what group I would like to join.

I don't know.

I've been checking out the Merc Town stuff and the Other Worlds.

The Demons sound cool too.

Kagashi's definitely the man to get hold of if you have questions about the Monster Offensive.
As for everything else...get in contact with me! I've sent you an add request via YIM.
MSN, YIM, and a number of other messaging programs are compatible with YIM.
You have about a week to get in touch with me, after that I'll be deleting your account.

Would you consider a Sea-Titan Techno Wizard as too Munchkin for Merc Town?

Im going out on a limb and say...yes, too munchkin for Merc Town (although TGM is the ruling authority on that, not me). TGM is pretty much limits folks to non-munchkin levels in Merc Town. If you are looking for a higher level campaign, you want the demon game (where a Sea Titan is just another character). Course, Sea Titans are not approved character classes in that particular game, but that level of power is generally maintained.

Edit: Old Links removed.

He of wasn't in the New Navy. He was the result of shore leave.

We had one on Other Worlds, but it recently died out. Providing we find a good GM, I dont see why PF would not have a resurgence.

I hope so! I've poked around the site a bit, and I have to say: Wow. The games are consistently good, people are dedicated and articulate... I've played on my share of boards, and this is one of the very best.

I would apply to run a game, but I'll be moving in two weeks AND I'm a Palladium n00b. But I'd love to play in a PFRPG game if a GM would step forth.

I always enforce a "cool down" period after a game collapses which, let's face it, even on EU/OW happens on occassion. I think something like 2 PFRPG, 2 Robotech, 2 Nightbane, and 1 or 2 HU2 games have died over our nearly 3-year existence. Not to mention 5 or 6 Rifts groups that disbanded, reformed, were wiped-out, etc.

In short, I won't like be allowing a new PFRPG game to be run until FALL 2008 at the earliest.

Heh, nothing new to PBP.

May you find fun in gaming barna10 and remember BUY PALLADIUM!

I'd like to join in a game but I am finding this site extremely user un-friendly. I consider myself an online veteran, running PBEMs on and off since '98 or so (and I do know how to run a PBP), and IMHO I find information gathering about character creation and how it works next to impossible. Perhaps it is a thread permission oversight on the forums, but as a user with no access or login I cannot find or access it.

The only character creation rules I did find was for the Euro game, and that had some confusing something or another about bidding and such.

I am unsure if I should ask but here goes anyway: whatever happened to rolling up a character and sending it in? Have I misunderstood something?

Please: I am not trying to be difficult here as I do want to try my hand at playing on those forums. It looks like fun!

For the MT game, its character creation as normal (you start at level 3 in that game). You simply create an account on EU and contact TGM (contact info in the link above). The Game Master is the approving official for that game.

Edit: Demon Game no longer in play.

Whoo-hoo! Fun times ahead!

EU will be present at the 2009 Palladium Open House IN FORCE.

At least half a dozen of the most dedicated players, moderators, and Game Masters will be in attendance at the hotly anticipated OH '09.

Also, a number of us will be attending GenCon Indy '08 on Saturday through Sunday. You can expect to see us lingering around the Palladium booth and hassling Jason Marker and Kevin as much as time and their audience/patrons permit. Jason, you can expect for my wife to attach herself to your hip!

UPDATE! www.explorersunlimited.com

RIFTS: MercTown & North America
The Spook Squad (2 Openings, Independent, GM: The Greater Good)
Heroes for Hire (No Openings, Independent, GM: Pandora)

The above is a list of the adventure groups and how many openings they have for new player characters. If you wish to play in one of the groups with an available opening, register at EU and contact me ASAP.

RIFTS: Eurasia & Africa
Currently has openings available! If you want to get involved in a RIFTS game where you're playing as a villainous Demon or Monster involved in the "Monster Offensive" against the NGR, contact me ASAP so I can point you to the correct Game Master.

Dear TGM; about a year ago I did try to roll a character up for submission. While I do appreciate the PM, I only have limited
access to a computer, as most of it is 1 hour online public access... Dagnabit!
I'd love to play either in a Chinese campaign, or in Phase World.

To those members of the EU that I got to meet @ the Open House, it was great meeting the 3 of you (Bald dude, chick who wanted to save the evil spirit and the guy acting as her shield) :D

H.U one is great.

I think you need some Villains for them,Not ones from CS and GI but Original Villains.

I will put my ideas for Bad guys here, from Colorpunks to Masterminds.
I hope Others will do the same.

Oh, there's already non-canon bad guys ready and waiting.

Please don't hijack this thread with NPC submissions, we use this thread to highlight changes to EU & OW and make people aware of the site and its services/games.

It's often best to get a large batch of new players accustomed to a setting by pitting them against canon first...then a GM can surprise them with a left-hook villain from out of nowhere.

EU has a new look, and new URLs!

Rifts: MercTown (and assorted other locales):

http://www.explorersunlimited.com/eu/

Otherworlds (a healthy collection of non-Rifts Earth games):

http://www.explorersunlimited.com/ow/

As always, the MercTown game is currently accepting PCs (over 100 characters and counting). Otherworlds games currently accepting PCs include Rifts: Phase World and Robotech: Macross. Contact one of the admins if you're interested in any offerings.

Interesting website. Do you except new players with limited experience in play by post games?

The link above contains our general guidelines on character submission- when you do decide which game you'll want to play in, you will need to go there and read up to ensure your character gets approved as quickly as possible. It's a treasure trove of information and well worth some time to go over.

As far as general guidelines for new members, all you really need are:

1) Yahoo Instant Messenger
2) A willingness to make your posts read well- proofreading, edits, the whole nine yards
3) An ability to post a minimum of once per week

No previous experience with PBP (or RPGs in general for that matter) is required.

Explorers Unlimited accepts players of all XP levels. :D
We have veteran gamers on-site who've been RPG dorks since the birth of RPGs in the 70's.
We also have a number of young folks (often siblings, with parents playing as well!) who are new to roleplaying games outside of computer games.

Make sure to read the House Rules forum and especially the newbies thread in that same forum, you'll find the answers to 90% of all your questions in that thread.

LOOKING FOR A DEAD REIGN GAME MASTER!

We already have SIX PLAYERS lined-up and beginning to submit their character sheets.
We already have a GENERAL FRAMEWORK set-up for the game.
We also have a large community of dedicated Palladium players that have been on-site for over three years.

Check out the details here.

Try elric.

He hangs out on the 'backup' Palladium chat server.

He's a little rough (I sense the teenager or recently post-teen in him) and his grammer needs a little work to be up to your exacting standards, but he's got some Play-By-Post experience.

I'm betting your six players are all GMs for something else, eh? Or at least have a plateful of NPC roles, and PCs.

Best of luck.

Actually, position has since been filled...by a really talented writer! I'm shocked actually, the quality of the game is going to be far higher than I at first expected...and we're up a few more players as well. :D

I just wanted to say that I've been given the honor (or is that horror) of being the one in charge of character submissions unti TGM's problems with school are taken care of...which means he finishes he main assignments and gets back to EU. No this does not mean that dragons and munchkins can join. As one of the more prolific players, I have a resume of characters and I have played from super powerful to "WFT" weak. My current list of characters keeps me busy, but I also GM two games, one of Phase world and the other in MercTown (mostly as a temp GM, I currently have a counter terrorism group under my wing).

We are still looking for players in many groups, and I look forward to getting any and all players started. I also know that one group in Phase World has just started and is still looking for dedicated players.

Signed
EJ

Garaa of the West (Mutant Body Fixer for Dirty Rotten Scoundrals)
Asuka Manjoyme (Immortal MAge (PU2) for Templars)
Samantha Bunny (Pleasure Bunny (ATB) sheriff for Crusaders of MercTown)
Rothgar "Tank" Ragnok (Ogre Dragon Juicer Scout for Spook Squad)
Sgt. Ducky (Psi-nullifier Psi-net agent for the 110th CS group)
Dante Maximo (Mutant Human Vagabond for the PW Rogues)
Duo Freehart (Human Operator/Robot Pilot for the new PW Group, name pending)
Mason Diaz (Mutant Dog for HU Century Station)
Kyle Nicholson (Super Soldier (Endo-skelital replacement) for Chaos Earth)
Dark Angel (GM for Society of the Distinguished)
Drifter (GM For MT)

Former accounts
Alexander Bester (Human Enthraller...MIA from the Spook Squad)
Victoria (Free Quebec Military specialist/leader of the Extrodinary Combat Solutions...group no longer in game)
Allen Maximofcus (Iborian Healer for PW Adventurers...NPC tool for PW GMs until an opening shows up in the adventurers)
Rex McScotty (Mutant Human Operator for Starswords...KIA)
Methos Darkblade (Mutant Wandering Free agent (Only had one minor ability)...game no longer in effect)
Lee Zuko (Manaar Gun Master...MIA from the Japan Group)
Methos Creedlith (Human Wizard...left PF group)
and I know I'm missing maybe 2-3 more characters I rolled up and posted. Needless to say, I don't have them available.

You sign up by making an account and getting ahold of either the DM of the world you're playing in or by getting ahold of The Game Master or Myself (Drifter) if you want to play in the Rifts Earth game. There's even a list of rules that you are required to use when making a character. If you have problems, look for me on YIM at ejpennine or anyone here who's shown that they know what they're doing (The Game Master is frequently on YIM, and PerroMalo is the DM of Phase World). And while we've had some problems in the past, I can assure you, the number of players has grown dramatically through the past year. We may have lost some to infighting, banning, ad even Real Life, but we have gained much more in quality people willing to play.

Nope, Sergei, you're right. Move along, nothing to see here...

(TGM doesn't tend to play well with others when 1) they're negative Nancys 2) can't spare the effort to read the blaringly obvious rules posted beneath their noses. My fellow GMs are far more tolerant and kind than I am in most situations.)
