Enlightened Immortals and non-humans

Unread post by Tor »

Would anyone know if humans are the only species that can gain an enlightened soul for reincarnation, or the only ones able to manipulate organs in internal alchemy to make the elixer that stops the harm from aging?

It doesn't say that, and presumably anybody who can learn a martial art with Zenjoriki could potentially discorporate and gain an enlightened soul...

It's just that blurb under the EI description which says you're born in the womb of a human female. Would that apply if other species were enlightened?

Would an elf EI for example, be born to a human mother? Would they be born as an elf, or as a human?

Also what if your species is wiped out due to genocide? Does your soul float indefinitely without a vessel to be reborn in? Or would you eventually just seek out the next closest thing?

Like if I killed all the elves, would an elf immortal be reborn as a human (similar due to both being able to use tattoos) or a changeling (because... I dunno, old races with high PPE?)

I would assume that since the book was written for human earth, they just had it humancentric. I would thus assume that you are reborn to a member of your species. As to species death.....I would personally figure that the soul will transmigrate to a dimension where that species still exists. If every member of the race in everydimension dies....then that would probably come under the 'final armagedon' and mass final ascention of the englitened

Hm, but even if your species went extinct, there would be people of other species who have yet to become enlightened and could still benefit from the presence of the immortals as teachers. Surely some would empathize and stay to help.

I always took the 'final armageddon' thing to mean pretty much everyone is gone (to the best knowledge of an immortal) and they get tired walking around being the only people lacking a clear purpose. Whether one's purpose in life is to selfishly enjoy others' company or to selflessly help others, both would become absent if everyone was gone...

But even if humanity died, a purpose might remain in helping goblins and orcs become EIs for example.

Also: anyone have any idea how Infernals and Fox Spirits are born?

Well, just spit-balling, but IMO supernatural or spirit entities tend to spontaneously 'manifest'. Either born from a fevered imagination of a God or Alien Intelligence, or the simply emerge from the void like the 'isos' in Tron: Legacy.

Not very satisfying from a scientific point of view, but we aren't really discussing creatures that follow those rules are we? ;)

Serve right and justice one last time.
Seek one last heart of evil.
Still one last life of pain.
Cut well old friend...
and then farewell.

Well if they want to stick around thats great, but when they die......well its not like they are going to be reborn (not with out some sort of interferance, maybe a friendly god/dragon/archmage/saint/GrandPlotMover/Whatever) that was what I was thinking on the 'were all dead, lets move on' thing.

Strong reference, saw this a month or two ago (and had seen the original Tron a year prior). Also enjoying the 'Uprising' spinoff on DXD (not sure if this is set before or after Legacy). Have yet to get to that area of Kingdom Hearts 2.

There's kinda precident for this in Palladium... like in a way, Dopplegangers sorta also spontaneously poof into existence.

Similar lack of origin knowledge exists for demons/deevils too. Heck even for species that reproduce there's shady backgrounds, like if they evolved or were created by Old Ones.
