SF and Robotech

Unread post by Tearstone »

Anybody got any theories on how Protoculture would work with or against the Bugs? Protoculture is a plant-based fusion system that forms a quasi-mental link with the pilot of robotic vehicles.

Does it work like Organitech, or can the system be infiltrated by the Bugs, and if so, is it even more addictive than our own electrical energy systems?

Energy is energy.

IMO. The Protoculture energy is based off a plant, the bugs would be attracted to the PC utilizing location, equipment, or personnel like a moth to a flame.

According to Page 127, section Palladium RPG Plugins, paragraph 5, If the bugs were to get ahold of some of the more developed part of the world there could be real trouble, due to the developed power systems, power armor and mecha available.

RIFTS Technology is far more advanced than our own by several magnitudes, yet the Bugs can use it. Robotech levels of technology is not much of a leap forward, except magnitudes of energy available, due to Protoculture.

Laux, I assume you are referring to this:
...prey on worlds that are within a certain window of technological achievement - advanced enough that they have lots of power generating capability, yet not so developed that they have the supertechnology to make their electronic infrastructure Bug-proof.

Robotechnology is focused on the creation of energy for the use of super robots and space craft not for changing the electronic infrastructure. More than likely, since RT takes place in the same time we are in now (only based on a 1980's idea of it) they never thought to change the basic structure of the power grids.

PC becomes the greatest thing the Bugs could ever ask for. Their biggest threat would be the Invid arriving and taking on the evolutionary traits of the Bugs to use against the Bugs and to better use the energy from the PC. Bug heaven = human hell!

Then again, if my theory about the Invid connection to PC is true, then the Bugs and the Invid are so closely related that the greatest problem would be figuring which group is which.

Exactly one race of super powerful evil bugs is enough ain't it. Why would you need to double eff the human race!
