I'm thinking to completely restrict mecha. For the first few session, the most protection the PCs would have is some CVR-3 and the occasional MD weapon. Getting Cyclones would be the plot of a major adventure, and I seriously doubt I'd allow any sort of heavier mecha.

The idea of putting everything into one starsystem is it removes any need for FTL. Boats and ships still take weeks to make transits in our time, so it's not unreasonable to assume a Horizont would take the same amount of time for a intra-system transit.
