Re: Ward Help

Cool. Thanks for your help!
I think giving an extended range trigger or having a delay ward on the liver :-D is the way to go instead of a Geas spell.

Re: Ward Help

I think you are within the realms of "make up a ward symbol" or at least "make up a variant of an existing ward" at that point. I'm not aware of a ward that has any sort of time delay, so if you want the time delay, you would need to come up with a ward to do that. I thought abo...

Ward Help

Had an idea and looking for a bit of help with it. Think of Escape from New York . Snake Plissken gets that injection that will kill him in 24 hrs if it’s not neutralized. Is it possible to have a ward do the same thing? Could a tattoo or something else be applied that will kill (or attempt to) the ...

Re: Band of No-Goods

Lopnel would also be a good choice. Then send him off to find the Hammer of Jejua (Holy hammer of the red god) Thanks. Missed that guy. Right now we have: Troll mercenary fighter - aberrant Wolfen Warlock (fire/ earth) - aberrant Changeling (Human) Diabolist - anarchist Orc Priest o' Darkness - eit...

Re: Band of No-Goods

So the group is coming together. One of the players is an orc Priest of Darkness. I'm allowing him soldier hth so a god of war or combat would be good or something that warrants a soldier hth. He will probably be aberrant or miscreant. Any suggestion for a suitable God? Modeus comes to mind as well ...

Re: Band of No-Goods

One way to help band the party together is to give them someone they dislike more than each other and a link to each other. Make them all great heroes whom a tough bad guy caught and defeated. Then have an unknown benefactor reincarnate them into what they currently are Have them all wake up somewh...

Re: Band of No-Goods

aberrant works pretty well, have their own code of honour. Necromancers aren't necromancers, but have weird abilities. Rodent Druids are funny Werecreatures too. But if you want really evil let someone play a mind mage. I also like goblin cobblers But it also depends on what level is involved, are ...

Re: Band of No-Goods

Some of the earlier Rifters had some optional thoughts on Assassins and Pirates (if you are also using Book 3: The High Seas), with some of each article dealing with (and opening up) alignments. After checking, it looks like that is Rifter 2 and 6, if you have access to either of those. Might be a ...

Re: Band of No-Goods

yeah, i have a thought...when are you playing and can i join?!? Hah! Thanks! I'm 50 and have been gaming a long time and mixing things up is very interesting to me right now. Really, anything is possible, even evil or selfish driven games if the GM and players have good attitudes towards it. If the...

Band of No-Goods

I'm not new to GM'ing but this will be my first time running PFRP 1E. I played it a bunch of times back in the day. So, this campaign will star a group of no-goods. Characters will be selfish or evil in alignment and the idea is for players to pick a humanoid race - orc, goblin, troll, wolfen, etc. ...

Re: Diabolists and their Ward Arsenals

Was there ever any official clarification on this? Seems strange it would be left a bit ambiguous after all this time.

What's great about this class is that it helps separate PF from D&D as a world and system.

Re: Diabolists and their Ward Arsenals

It's funny you mention that. We played the other day and the group had the choice of closing a door and running or face an encounter in a room. They chose to stay and fight. But, after I was thinking if they chose to flee and draw them out a diabolist could have trapped the door and any pursuing bad...

Re: Diabolists and their Ward Arsenals

Hey Hotrod, I certainly won't argue how someone interprets the writing. Personally, I would prefer that AoE wards can be placed on potable planks, etc, just to make adventuring a little easier for the diabolists. Once again, some in-game examples of arsenals would be interesting hear about from the ...

Re: Diabolists and their Ward Arsenals

I just read through the 2E diabolist section, and I don't see an issue with the "inscribed on some portable panels" approach. The ward arsenal book is a bit more iffy. They can't be painted on a fabric to be unrolled, and this is rather like the concept of the ward arsenal book. Do you ha...

Re: Diabolists and their Ward Arsenals

I play 1e so have been going by that to get my interpretation of Wards. However, I just read the 2e Diabolist and it sure clears up a lot of the confusion and questions I had. It seems all AoE wards have to be on large stationary objects or surfaces so my thinking of waking into combat with plank bo...

Re: Diabolists and their Ward Arsenals

A dog-eared book the diabolist carried with her For some reason a book never occurred to me but good to hear! I was thinking they had to be on something more dense like your thin panels idea. Not sure if you feel the same but my interpretation of the rules, at this point, is that only one inflictio...

Diabolists and their Ward Arsenals

On page 109 of my first edition book it talks about the diabolists Ward Arsenal . Please describe what this means to you and how you prepare your arsenal. What surface are they on? What were they prepared with? And how were they used? Did you walk into the middle of combat and speak the final power ...

Re: Is anyone still playing 1e/revised?

We grew up on 1e in the 80's and I plan on running a game soon. If our group takes to it I'll run it for them. I don't mind at all if they go evil or selfish either - nice change from the norm. Palladium Fantasy 2e is not my cup of tea but to each their own.

Re: Priest and God Spells Levels

Second Ed fixed that particular problem by saying you can pick spells lvls 1 - 3, it doesn't matter what your god knows. So in second edition if your god knows only level one spells, you still cast/choose up to level three but nothing past? So you'd still miss out on levels 4-11? One of the reason ...

Re: Priest and God Spells Levels

Hey kiralon, Yeah, first edition. Thanks, I'll check out those threads. One house rule already is to use the I.Q. skill bonus chart as a guide for skills that would do better with P.P. or P.S. etc. instead of just using I.Q. for a straight across the board bonus. For example, pick pockets is a P.P. ...

Priest and God Spells Levels

Howdy, Played 1e BitD and now hope to run a game soonish. One concern I have is how gods can only grant spells to Priests (and demons/devils to Witches?) that they themselves have access to. The reason this bugs me is it promotes min/maxing at the cost of role-play. If you want to cast spells from 1...
