Re: How Do You Use: Kobolds

I played a Kobold Wizard/Diabolist. We worked out a set of polarized/tinted spectacles for out of the field and goggles for being out in the field/adventuring. He was only "morally ambiguous" in his language. He never committed to anything, but never actually acted evil, just a tad ruthles...

Re: Official Timiro Material

3200 years ago Nisi lost its status as the Elven capital of the Timiro Kingdom because the Cult of the Great One wouldn't play nice with everyone else (Followers of the Church of Light and Dark) 3200 years later the Nisi you see in Old Ones 2nd edition is all that is left of the once great mighty c...

Well, except that this new material has Nisi as the capital of the Elven Kingdom of Timero, founded after the Dwarf/Elf war.

Re: Official Timiro Material

I'm just starting a Timero based campaign and the new material helps me fill in the blanks, and even gives me an idea for what is in the archeological dig near the fort where they are stationed. I do have a question: Is the modern town of Nisi on the same site as the ancient Elvish capital, or a lit...

Re: Demystification of Protoculture

As a bit of an aside, the terms "metaphysical" and "magical" are not interchangeable. The term "Metaphysics" comes from Aristotles' works and applies to anything that isn't "physics," in his sense of the term. Later uses of it tend to mean he discussion of any...

Re: Lazlo Society Gallery II

That is an interesting character, FJ00. If he is apostolic, what is his second job? Interesting question. As he says over on Lazlo Society, he's in a sort of in semi retirement due to "medical reasons." He's under some sort of lingering curse that took his propensity for arthritis and ran...

Re: Demystification of Protoculture

The novels aren't so much "incoherent" as shifting in the POV. Different charicters see things differently. It is a very rare moment where the narrative is third person omnisient. many people seem to like to point out "inconsistancies" which are based upon the statements and thou...

Turns out I just had to ask googel the right way. A link to the medal the way I saw it in my minds eye, more or less, can be seen here:

The one he wears is about 3" in diamiter and the inscription, translated:

"St Michael, Archangel, pray for us."

Re: Lazlo Society Gallery II

Thank you, I could have looked it up myself, but I would have forgotten. This way, I learn a new word. So is Friar John a Benedictian, Jesuit, Fransican, or Tapist? Also, a link to a picture of a St. Micheal's medal might be fun. My bad, I tend to forget that not everybody understands the lingo. He...

The apron like garment he has his hands under. The main robe is called a "tunic" and the wide sleeved over garment the older monks in the front row is called a "cucula" or "cicula" and is the ancestor of the modern academic gowns we wear at graduations and the like.

Father Johnathan (FriarJohn) looks like the dark haired, younger monk with the glasses found here: http://www.abbeycaskets.com/images/MonksPraying.jpg.The difference is that he wears a large St Michel's medal over the scapular, and walks with a cain.

When I have had to put Clergy into a game, other than the generic Fantasy Cleric, I've used either the "Catholic Priest" from one of the Rifts Russia books, or I have used one of the available O/PCCs printed with a tweak or two. The only thing I add are the "blessings" from PFRP ...

well, Breetai says it, and is surprised when Azonia says the Grand Fleet is on the way... I think Breetai was lied to, since his command was contaminated. Right, my line of thought has always been: Breetai and Exadore open negotiations after the second mutiny (and because both of them have been aff...

plus , going by the Old RPg, the REF didnt trust the Zents, why else give them such terrible "REF battle pods" There are four reasons given: The first is that the majority of Zents were unable to master the Human Mecha. Second, returning the micronized Zents to full size was to much of a ...
Breetai says he was given orders by high command to open negotiations... so he wasnt' switching sides...
I've always thought that was a lie, since the Main Fleet comes as a response to Azonia's interference by reporting to Dolza. The narrator's line seems to be the one out of place.

Re: Strike Force Crossover suggestions/feedback wanted

I think that, and I'll have to go and rewatch to be sure, that Dolza's order to launch the assault came AFTER Breetai opened negotiations with the SDF1. Exadore is told of the coming attack while meeting with Gloval et al. In no small way Breetai had already "switched sides." As for Leonar...

I'll preface this with having an MA in theology from a Presbyterian seminary and that I'm a High Church Episcopalian. I've tended to take the "Catholic Priest" OCC from Russia (since I no longer have West) and add the Blessings and prayers, but not the Miracles and Spells from PFRP for cle...

Re: Post Rain of Death population (non-canon)

I vaguely remember that the pin point technology, or something like it, was shared by the SDF1 as part of trying to find a home for the civilians onboard. I also seem to remember that point being brought up as a posable reason why the RoD seems to "miss" some areas, namely that they were s...

The tallest horse on record was around 7'3" tall at the withers (22.2 1/5 hands). Most breeds "top out" at around 6'7" or so. If we take these real world stats as a guide, I suppose we could see a breed of massive horse bred in the North. This could be seen with the Kingdom of He...

Re: Bio-manipulation Paralysis question... please help!

To add onto what JuliusCreed said, both Gholems and Mannequins are immune to paralysis, as I recall and are very difficult to do in since they can regenerate so quickly. Place them late in the encounter, after the Mind Mage has had a chance to run low on ISP anyways and really let fly.
