Re: O.C.C.s You Wish Existed
The problem with OCCs is the lack of ability to pick up skills after 1st level; some types are marked "none", which in a LOT of instances lacks logic. Unless the assumption is that everyone on Rifts Earth is autistic or something and simply can't learn stuff in later levels. As a house-rule when I ...

Re: OCC Power Level and Experience Point Tables
IIRC in the Original RMB I don't think that any of the OCC's got secondary skills at later levels. That was something that was added in later, then updated in the RUE. Older OCC's don't have increased secondary skills at later levels.
You are correct, in most cases. But the 'Borg and the ...

Re: OCC Power Level and Experience Point Tables
Palladium XP tables are derived from the tables of games that came before it, in which different classes had different power curves. I have begun to feel more strongly over the years that Palladium XP tables may have missed the original point and were merely trying to mimic what had come before. I ...

Re: O.C.C.s You Wish Existed
RIFTS is my favorite RPG of all time, but I feel like it has too many repetitive OCCs/RCCs and not enough flexible OCCs/RCCs. I'd like to see more flexible OCCs. The Mystic is a good example of how an OCC could be flexible. I would like the option to generate a character where I can choose to dial ...

Re: Complete Rifts by Publication Date List
Here is the current master list of books which do not have a complete publish date. If you happen to have a first edition and wouldn't mind sending me a picture of the first page (the one with the publish date and month on it), would you please DM me?

Re: Complete Rifts by Publication Date List
I've done another update. I found a couple more first editions to add to my collection. I also came across Mad Dog's Temporal Nexus which has publish dates for all RIFTS books up to 2002. I've noted those with a dagger mark † if I have not personally verified them. If the publish date is ...

Re: saving throws?
Does rolling a 1 on a saving throw mean you automatically fail, even if with bonuses you could beat the saving throw target number?
The only reference in RUE to a 1 being a critical failure is on a strike roll (RUE 346): "A roll of one always misses regardless of bonuses."
Otherwise a ...

Re: Complete Rifts by Publication Date List
Great project. Thank you.
I would go year first and month second. Makes it easier to skim down the list.
Thanks for pointing that out. It was kind of messy to skim because of the fact that the years didn't align. I think I figured out a better way to organize it. I am putting everything into a ...

Re: The 10 spells you can't live without
I only have three: magic net, carpet of adhesion, and invisibility: superior. Everything else is just gravy when your foes are immobilized and cannot act. I can disappear from anything too big to magic net and go find a glitter boy to kill it for me.

Re: Your biggest alterations to the standard rules...
The rules state that ALL full conversion borgs must have their brain located in their heads. This is stupid, when considering that the Main Body would be the most logical and efficient method to keep a borg in a fight.
This makes so much sense. A strategically minded combat 'borg would want their ...

Re: What are your favorite memories from the Rifts main book (1990)?
I never had a D&D book, so I was never 'tainted' by its influence. I discovered a personal interest in Rifts (as opposed to the tangential Palladium interest from my brother) circa 2008, when I had a strong inclination towards tech and wanting to make a detailed sentient AI/NI character ...

Re: Complete Rifts by Publication Date List
I've done reviews of most of the Rifts line of books; Baseline, World Books, Conversion Books, Sourcebooks, Dimension Books and the ancillary products as well.
A quick glance at some of the dates you have outstanding could be confirmed by the review (e.g. Titan Robotics is May 2023, Manhunters ...

What are your favorite memories from the Rifts main book (1990)?
What is it that you just loved from the original Rifts main book?
What did you find novel and unique?
What are your most exciting memories?
What is something that didn't work for you or felt awkward?
What was your first character or GM experience like?

Re: Your biggest alterations to the standard rules...
1. Because humans are very uninteresting mechanically, I let human player characters pick two abilities to add +1d6 or one to add +2d6. If this makes an ability above a 16, they can roll for an exceptional ability, as usual, to a maximum of 30.

Complete Rifts by Publication Date List
I am endeavoring to provide a complete list of all Rifts® books and supplemental materials by publish date. I would appreciate any help from the community that you might be able to offer. I am interested in doing a retrospective reading of these books and reading in publish order to relive the ...
