Re: The Absurdity of modern warfare
From a military perspective, until you get up to real strategic level systems (Strategic Bombers, SSBNs, Carrier battle Groups) all those armoured vehicles, artillery, missiles, planes, helicopters, etc are just there to help the infantry do their job (seize and hold ground). They do it by either he...

Re: The Absurdity of modern warfare
I've gone into detail on the forums in the past as to why in any realistic scenario a robot is a far less effective AFV than a tank. But Rifts has Giant Robots and they have them for a reason (they are freakin' cool) so we have to deal with how they are presented in universe and, quite frankly, thei...

Re: The Absurdity of modern warfare
If there were anti-armor weapons in Palladium, there'd be less love of these monstrosities. Except there can't be anti-armor weapons that can knock out an enemy in one shot, equivalent to the rocket-propelled-grenade and tanks. If there was, then even regular power armor would be largely worthless....

The CS Navy more or less split with 1/3 to 1/2 of it defecting to Free Quebec.
IIRC there was some skirmishes, but both forces chose to preserve their strength isntead of fighting sustained battles of attrition.

I use the spray rules and enforce that Dodging takes the place of your next melee attack.
Moving in and out of cover is a melee attack too.
A couple of sprays and then some careful fire and the targets are too busy trying not to get shot to do anything.

Sort of.
I did have a game in which an NPC faction did have a handful of armoured vehicles they used for special occasions.
But, never was it a PC vehicle. Probably for the best, you could run a family car for a week on the fuel used by a tank in an hour.

Something I will point out is that the missile ROFs are generally per launch system, with the two shoulder packs being seperate systems thus doubling the number of simultaneous missiles fired.

The Su-34 can carry the AA-10 and AA-12 air to air missiles, some versions of which have ranges inexcess of 100 miles.

While that's not wrong, the problem with your reasoning is that having multiple fixed guns covering an arc is only useful in a dogfight if your weapons aren't precise enough to guarantee a hit on your first try. It's compensating for accuracy with volume. The more or less the entire history of guns...

I think it's time to move the discussion of HG canon to the HG forums.
In the Palladium Robotech RPGs, the EBSIS was created for the 1st edition canon. It was not specifically mentioned by name, but the possibility for non-UEG aligned states does exist in the 2nd edition cannon.
